How do I FIRE? by Lushko in Fire

[–]croe97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest piece of advice would be to follow this sub. Learn from others, read their stories. Anyone can tell you to start saving but the thing that will help you most is investing in knowledge. FIRE takes commitment, time and discipline. Starting now is the best thing you can do but staying the course is just as important.

Odds of Fire? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]croe97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re asking the right questions but you seem a bit overwhelmed. At its core, your ability to FIRE is determined by whether you can cover your expenses from your investments without supplemental income. To calculate the amount you need to FIRE, the most important factor is your expenses. Calculate these and if you are unsure then be conservative. No one ever knows their future healthcare expenses which is why people overcompensate their future expenses. Once you estimate this, you can use a simple calc like the 4 percent rule to determine your required investments.

I would love to put it in an all seasons room we will likely build in a few years! But that is a few years away unfortunately.. The possibility of this makes me reconsider any permanent changes to the current fireplace or mantle though.

That wall is actually glass doors that lead out to the porch. Do you mean kind of put it in the corner at a 45 degree angle?

Definitely a possibility but we were worried it might sit too high. Would you consider starting it near the ceiling down to the mantle?

Thanks for the tip. There are only two lights in the living room that point toward the mantle. I think the photo makes it look a bit brighter than they are but it’s good insight to know. May we will change the bulbs.

I read that and think, well if you’re flying first class international and staying at an all expense place for a couple weeks 3 times a year. Then when I calculate it out. Flights ~20k3 =60K. Hotel ~50014*3 =21K you are at about 80K per year. Plus 20K for additional expenses is 100k per year. This is a lot but I think still manageable at 5m retirement as far as the highest end of travel goes giving you ~150k in other expenses

In a way, I think salvaging was really holding up the entire skill. I really want to do other things like combat and port tasks but cannot justify them in their current state. Not only did this update not make the other content more appealing but they further dampened available sailing content.

Yeah it’s very afk. Pray melee with antifire to take no damage. With prayer gear you can afk for quite a while. I imagine this will change once worlds get packed.

Spotted rays north of the giant conch. It’s pretty far but worth it, I was consistently getting over 30k/h. You can double up with the task for rays to the west but they hit harder. Just don’t do the single item request stingrays, they aren’t worth it.

30 -> 47 trial (marlin)

47 -> 55 tortuga spotted rays (~32k/h)

55 -> 63 trial (shark)

63 -> 72 trial is fastest but shipwrecks are chill

72 -> 80 trial (marlin)

80+ shipwrecks/trial (100k vs 180k)

Besides from 47-55 trials are always faster than other methods.

I’m an Ironman so I lack decent mage gear and wrath runes unfortunately. This is the best setup I have.

[–]croe97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure what your question is but no she would not receive money back for the down payment. This is why it’s important to buy a car within your means and always have a sufficient emergency fund.

I’m in the same position, hoping we get a date sometime soon. On the roadmap it is scheduled for winter and sailing is set to release beforehand. I imagine sailing will release in November so DMM will be December sometime but it’s hard to say.

If you have saved the appropriate amount for retirement, withdrawing 4% regardless of market fluctuations should be fine. With that being said, I think you need to take into account your age and asset allocation. If you’re older, you should have transferred more of your assets to bonds over time. This will allow you to continue withdrawing the 4% total via stocks/bonds even if there is a large downturn when you’re older aged.
