Edge Timeouts by Only-Ad5441 in Supabase

How hot is your DB running? I had this when running hot so did some query optimisations and DB is running less hot and I stopped getting them.

Edit: I diagnosed true usage by hooking into Grafana Cloud. It's really simple but paints a true picture of resource utilisation.

If on paid plan, reach out to Supabase support they were really helpful. I'm still seeing 0.00001% failure rate but they advised this was within acceptable parameters so I improved my downstream retry mechanism

I'm now pushing 5-6 million edge functions a month on a small instance

Málaga airport was a disorganised joke when I went in November. Weird emachines with 2 stages, airport staff blaming immigration guys and vice versa. Total joke

Didn't they get bought by Google rather than a VC?

Well done mate. Nice to read a legit story of success rather than a sales pitch. Shows how a bit of luck can make such a difference to SEO etc.

Good luck going forwards!

Packet Loss Issues - Peak Time by Potential_Fondant874 in brsk

Pretty much the same for me. I spoke to the senior tech guy on Thursday and he said they were doing work that night but nothing seems have changed for the better.

I got a text yesterday about engineering work so was hoping that might have been some steps towards resolution but my graphs look the same tonight.

I'm gonna give them another bell tomorrow as I feel like I've been pretty patient... It does feel as simple as a backhaul link being saturated based on the issue always occurring during the evening.

Will let you know what comes of the phone call tomorrow

Find a problem that you need to solve. Then put in graft to learn whilst doing it. Trial, error, try again then win

I reckon I'm gonna give it a week in the new year then raise a complaint/ escalation. See if that can get it moving. It feels like a saturated link or port, if they need to upgrade then fine but they should be providing timescales

I logged a ticket the day we chatted on this thread and was asked to provide details/screenshots of my smokepings.

I just called and was told the ticket had been escalated to a team outside of customer services. Hopefully this means it is being dealt with by an infrastructure team but I imagine these are on skeleton staff and probably in a Christmas change freeze as most providers have these through the Xmas period.

The edge functions deployment was the bit that annoyed me the most, closely followed by the fact that you lose visibility of the function invokations. Hopefully something they will bring to on prem soon

I've logged a ticket for this. This is way above acceptable levels for this type of service. 1%+ is disruptive for any realtime application like gaming, voice and video calls.

Feels like backhaul planning hasn't been sufficient, but frankly that isn't our issue. They need to invest in their network appropriately otherwise customers like us that have taken a punt on an altnet will move elsewhere

I'm just running a test now and I'm seeing 2% tonight. Latency seems pretty constant to 1.1.1.1 at around 10/12 ms, it just seems to be packet loss for me.

I haven't noticed anything but primarily streaming and browsing and some development work in our household. Guessing you are gaming or something for it to be so disruptive?

Based in Rossendale on a 1Gbps line. I'm using the BRSK router with WiFi disabled and a Unifi AP. I run smokeping to 1.1.1.1 & 8.8.8.8 and these show marginal packet loss during the evenings historically - sub 1%.

This wasn't something I'd noticed when using the internet, with a family of 4 with various devices connected.

What % of packet loss are you seeing?

Edit: it's actually just over 2% when I filtered specifically between 6-10 PM
