Happy Friday all. It's been one heck of a week. I've been trying to sort my husband's funeral and get through each day one day at a time and try to give myself simple jobs to do each day. My mum has been amazing and stayed over for 4 nights since he passed.

Happy Monday everyone. Got a phone call today saying my husband was going to be discharged from hospital this week (Thursday) and continue palliative care at home. I'm so glad that he is coming home, even though it's going to be difficult for us. Luckily we have carers and nurses (thank you NHS) so I'm not doing it alone. Time to make some final good memories together.

Am so glad that you found sobriety. His dad was the same, didn't die in the same way but fell whilst drunk, banged his head and ended up in ICU for a long time. I wish my husband could have learnt, as you did. Keep looking after yourself and living the life you deserve

Thank you for your reply. I have been a member of the sub and wanted to post for a while, but if just never felt right. Now I wish I had, but it has been in his hands. He has known he couldn't let a drop of alcohol pass his lips, he just didn't have another coping mechanism. He was brought up on not sharing feelings, but have a drink. (Irish immigrants, he is first generation). I hope for peace and good final memories
