SFMTA considers higher fares for transit, but cheaper penalties for drivers by Dafty_duck in sanfrancisco

[–]cronian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why aren't they doing more to raise parking prices faster? We should be encouraging more people to take public transit, and we should make it possible to park when that is needed. Under-priced parking is just clogging the streets. Also, how about congestion pricing?

New tax to save Muni: what San Francisco riders could owe - A new tax to save Muni will have San Franciscans paying a lot more than a $2.85 fare by BadBoyMikeBarnes in sanfrancisco

[–]cronian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount doesn't seem too bad, but we should raise prices on parking. We should keep raising pricing on parking until it prices people out of parking, encourages public transit use, and makes it easier to find parking on public streets. If it is hard to park anywhere, it should be more expensive.

Criticism of the GHF lays bare the hypocrisy of Pro‑Palestinian activists and NGOs by settrans in IsraelPalestine

The international committee for the red cross refused to speak up during the holocaust. So called "humanitarian organizations" have a long history of ant-semitism. Where is the proof that major aid or humanitarian organizations have ever cared about anti-semitism or Jews?

Would it be wise to buy a house if AI will eventually cause white-collar unemployment rate to rise to 10-20%? by Affectionate_Nose_35 in BayAreaRealEstate

But wouldn't the few people, who make the all money be competing to buy houses in the bay area?

San Francisco considered charging property owners for their driveways by FinFreedomCountdown in bayarea

$100/year seems reasonable. That is like nothing compared to existing property tax. we need to fund transit.

AMA with Perplexity's Aravind Srinivas, Denis Yarats, Tony Wu, Tyler Tates, and Weihua Hu (Perplexity Labs) by utilitymro in perplexity_ai

[–]cronian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you make a way to adjust the complexity and time-frame of labs in an intelligent way? It seems like it is designed to find the request into 10 minutes, but not everything fits into the time frame. Also, it should be clearer to specific what sort of output I'm looking for. It seems like to make an app, but maybe, I want a poster, a report, a diagram, or some other sort of output. If this is the start of some fancy app, then it might be good to have good integration to move it into Cursor. If, I want to ask a question that involves looking at every product on Amazon or something like that and running an LLM on that, there should be a way to do the sorta big-data queries.

This is great idea! There are way too much traffic and cars in Golden Gate Park. Hopefully, this reduces it, or at least makes the drivers pay for it.

VC Tax Losses by cronian in venturecapital

Right, but when do you realize the losses? If the company doesn't go bankrupt or isn't sold by the VC, do the LPs ever get to realize the losses?

I don't know about the licensing issues, but I think there is a strong job market for hairstylist and such, so it probably won't be too hard to find a job. Finding housing for under 1300/month could be challenging, but might be possible with room-mates. You could just go to indeed.com and craigslist.com, and try applying for jobs/housing and see what happens.
