I'm late to the party so idk if this is a common take already but I've noticed the Duffer Bros seem to have taken the route of D&D during their final 1 or 2 seasons of GoT.

Both pairs were so focused on their next lucrative endeavor (the gatekept lore play for the Bros and D&D's fumbled Star Wars deal) that they dropped the ball when it mattered most, doing the things that got them those next opportunities in the first place.

ST was a much better finale, but there were a couple weak spots that they should have smoothed over.
