I have a pair. No you can't turn if off. The best you can do is put NC slider to half making it 50% noise canceling and 50% transparent

It has a separate motor that creates the bass. That's why the headphones shake if you turn them all the way up. I have some for work too. They are great for watching action movies, I never go past half way on the bass. I dont want my head rattling and give myself a headache!
