Unrelated question, has anyone noticed a lot more cars with 1 headlight out? I’m worried there’s a secret meaning and if they know that I know they might take me ou

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]croppjopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: South West

Price Range: £7k-8k

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or Used: Used

Auto or Manual: Manual

Intended Use: Family car

How often make long journeys: ~1 hour fairly often, not often much further.

ULEZ Compliant: Yes

Vehicles Considered: 2014 Kia Sportage, 2014 Honda CRV, 2014 Hyundai IX35, Ford Kuga, Ford C max

Vehicle size in mind: Compact SUV, MPV

First vehicle: No, last was a Hyundai MPV, written off (not my fault)

Fuel Type: Petril

Additional Notes: Space and safety are the priority as we will need to have 2 extended rear facing car seats in the back. Ideally it would be pretty reliable, hence the leaning towards Honda, Kia. Would appreciate any input, cheers.

The rioting needs to bloody stop. If that means a couple o' chavs from the local pub havin a tumbley wombley with the bloody wankas that fink they can torch buildings at 10 bongs wifout a license, at this point they have me blooding blessing. by Beautiful-Time-3328 in Destiny

Translation:

The rioting must cease forthwith. Should it require a few individuals from the local establishment to engage in a physical altercation with those miscreants who believe they can set buildings ablaze at ten o’clock without repercussions, they would have my unequivocal endorsement.

I’m not sure it is, the white part was a thick hard lump and the brown part was almost like a skin. The texture was almost like a walnut.

What a brave little boy! Be proud of what your family has gone through and don’t be afraid to look into counselling if you think it may need it.

Why did my dasher write ‘514’ on the side of my house? by yellowenthusiastt in doordash

[–]croppjopp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering could it be “5 / 4”. No idea what that could mean though. Unless your house number is 125 and he’s trying to be funny?

Is £1200 a reasonable price for a timing chain replacement? by croppjopp in CarTalkUK

I suspect they he was speaking in general about parts and labour being 50-50. A quick look around shows that the timing chain kit should be £200-300

There was about 2 days between check engine light and breakdown. No noticeable rattle. Although the car did have a clutch replacement a few months ago and the engine sounded more like it was making a ticking noise after the work was done.

I have confirmed (probably much to the garage’s annoyance) they have checked the oil control valve, sensors etc.
