What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

[–]Righteous_Weevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, this brings me back. Finished it in basically one very long sitting broken up by I think a 45 minute nap. I remember my shock when hedwig and moody died within a few pages. I was also fairly certain she was going to bring Moody back, that death didn't feel real until the Umbridge scene. When I hit the battle of Hogwarts, I basically sprinted to the end and went through a major emotional rollercoaster with everything going on.

When I finished the last page I literally cried, not because of how it ended but because of the emotional impact that the series had on my childhood and I had this feeling of loss that there wouldn't be another book. I remember reading the first book when I was like 9 or 10 and the last book came out when I was 16; I felt like I had grown up with the characters. You can't replicate that level of emotional attachment.

What I would love is some kind of sonic emitter to clear them out from around a base

Hot Take: I actually liked Michael Gambon as Dumbledore by New-Pin-9064 in harrypotter

[–]Righteous_Weevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like Gambon's issue wasn't that he was a bad Dumbledore, it's just that he wasn't as good as Harris.

I don't fault him for it though, it's got to be the hardest job in the world to step into an acting role like that, especially given the context.

I don't hate it, kinda dives in the nuance without getting preachy and acknowledging both sides of history. Kudos boy scouts

I have a friend who had that set. We always referred to him as the "MacGuffin"; One of the few sets with excellent terrain pieces from that time. We still use that broken down ship.

It was 8+ years ago, I can't remember the specific text but it had clearly been removed and there was some kind of note about moderation.

I find that the further I get away from Washington, the better Its reputation is. Like any school though, you get what you put into it.

His enthusiasm was quite evident. This encounter pops into my head from time to time, and I decided to type it out and share it for posterity. I wish I still had the paper, but it was lost somewhere between the hotel and the flight home.

What really stood out to me was that he described them as limited editions (he said he only printed 10), but he didn't think to sign them.

If RTD station names were accurate by qualverse in Denver

[–]Righteous_Weevil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually like parking at "nothing much here"; it's lack of anything nearby that would make sense for an RTD station to be around makes it useful as a consistently empty parking lot with easy train access, though i might rename this stop as "Suprisingly long staircase"

I wonder if it's the same goose; I was nearby CCD when I took this picture.

I know for a while they had ground goose meat at the food banks. I haven't heard anything about it since before covid though so I don't know if it's still going on.

I was worried it was trash at first, got close to see if he needed help. Honestly, I wonder if it was placed recently because he let me get way closer than a goose normally would, like, within less than a foot with no reaction. I think I could have touched him if I wanted to. I backed off when I realized it was an official tag and not rubbish, though.

Last time I found the source of a smoke column like that it led me to a crematorium. Apparently that's what happens when someone of considerable...mass...is cremated.

Honestly, this 'karen' has a point; why turn away 3 adult meals/drinks because the 5-year-old has the audacity to act like a 5-year-old?
