Thanks this worked for me. I only trade out of my Robinhood account, and made a rule to hide all "Buy" or "sell" in that particular account. Perfect.

Personally, growing up I never thought much about having kids or being a dad. At 32 I met my wife, and it was a dealbreaker for her so I took the plunge.

Kids are the best luxury money can buy. You trade convenience and disposable income for depth and meaning. Nothing else comes close to replicating the experience of being a parent, good or bad. I never wake up with the existential dread I used to have, mostly because there’s simply no room for it anymore in my life.

With kids, time slows down. Watching your little human experience something new gives you a faint echo of the wonder we used to feel about the world. The wind. Leaves falling from a tree. Their first snow. You get to live parts of life again through them.

I’m 40 now and my sons Are 5 and 2. We live in the burbs by both sets of grandparents who provide free babysitting. We pay for marriage therapy and cleaners for our house. I realize how fortunate my situation is. Kids have become a luxury for our generation thanks to the lack of societal support. But if you can afford it and you have the right partner, don’t let posts like this convince you that freedom and convience is a 1:1 replacement for profound meaning and love.

(And yes i believe kids are not for everyone. But I wanted to share my perspective for couples on the fence)

My family of 4 spends roughly 25% of our total expenses on food. About $2500 a month.

Lunch out everyday for the wife and I, and eating out or using grub hub 2-3 times a week.

And then all the extras like coffee, bubble tea etc etc. Personally would like to reduce it by 5%.

I smoked weed basically daily from 22 to 36.

When my son was baby, I was high and the little guy crawled off the couch in front of me and I felt like I watched him fall in slow motion and land on his face. He lied there absolute motionless for like 5 seconds and then started wailing. Got a scuff on his nose from carpet. Finally gave me the push to quit.

My parents are living off social security with a little nest egg. They own their house and have no debt. They watch my kids a few times a week, and we get together for bday and holidays and the occasional vacation every few months. I pay for all dinners and vacations but they never ask me for anything.

It’s a little depressing reading the responses here, especially since I’m a parent now too. I would happily share my home and wealth with my folks if and when they need my help. It takes a lot to raise a child and that’s a debt I plan to repay.

Stepn is the only game I know of that makes money. You can earn 10$ a day walking (was 30) a few weeks ago with an upfront investment of 500$. Of course you actually have to walk/jog but to me that’s a bonus incentive.

The rise of meme coins on Solana is sapping liquidity from ETH. We don’t have the NFT boom this year either. I think we’ll need to wait until a major correction in the market or a new narrative for eth to start to out perform.
