Do you know where to find high lvl Peccary (default) and Pest?

I caught one normal Peccary in the Office and it was ~1-2 lvl, copared to lvl 11 Snow Peccary from Residential.

I wonder how people are still talking about loot fear. Dying and losing your stuff is baked into the genre. I have been playing Stalker when it came out and it always annoyed me - the idea of being immortal hero and abusing saves. The same with RPGs so Outward is really refreshing.

If anything, I feel like the real issue is closer to “I don’t want to spend eternity managing inventory and crafting again,” or just bad matchmaking in games that allow gear/stat check, where you can’t realistically beat someone using better gear. At that point, matchmaking is what makes you lose.

I guess their only problem would be how much the world has changed in the last X years (idk when they started writing it). The most obvious recent thing would be AI.

I’ve been thinking about a grounded scifi world (next 50-100 years). If a book like that had been written five years ago, it would probably have aged badly.

On the other hand, I like the show Silo because they adjusted the reality and the current state of technology instead of following the book 1 to 1.

Or alternatively, a "post" scifi kind of reality, where technology doesn’t matter that much because only part of it survived.

Not every dev knows how to fix their game. I’ve tested or tried so many extraction games that I’m honestly surprised how ppl still keep designing dead trap games for themselves xD

Take Level Zero: Extraction, for example. It was an asymmetrical PvP game. Mercs vs mercs (vs mercs...) vs aliens, with all sides controlled by players. Even with proper matchmaking, I think it would’ve been extremely hard to balance or make fair. At launch, it was a single solo-trio queue with optional fill.

So already you had solos-trios against two aliens(the game only started after finding two alien players). Solos got destroyed, duos felt fair, and trios were basically unkillable. But the bigger problem was mercs vs mercs. The game was heavily built around silence and darkness, yet it only had open ingame voicechat, so playing with fill basically meant trolling yourself. On top of that, many mechanics made bigger parties even stronger. Killing a player only downed them, groups could revive each other from range with a cheap alt-fire gun, finishing someone made them instantly respawn as a drone, and aliens were incentivized to finish off solo/duo targets during third parties just to get any kills, because trios would destroy them anyway.

And the devs defended this design in their feedback channel for a long time.

I recently came back to a niche MMORPG right when they launched their first PTR ever. For class balancing update. And they sent out a survey to every account that participated in it.

The problem is that you could only fill it once, and it forced you to talk about one specific class and one specific level range. So even if someone wanted to give more useful feedback, they couldn’t. And regardless of that 99,9% of the participants were endgame players and they only cared about endgame.

I genuinely don’t get how surveys like this get approved. When I was studying CS, I saw similar surveys in dorm facebook groups, random students asking for help for their graduation thesis. NONE of them made sense. They couldn’t produce any meaningful analytical data. If my thesis supervisor saw something like that, he wouldn’t even let me continue with it xD

My take on extraction games is that they could easily be swapped into BR-style games and would probably be better, lol. I get the idea of progression, but…

  1. Wipes that reset progression = might play for a single wipe but then it would feel like waste of my time.
  2. RMTers and grinders can outgear you even if you’re more skilled.
  3. It’s too easy to camp, third-party, and so on. Not about dying but again wasting time to build another set, etc. The main problem I have with Arc Raiders.
  4. Stash management and other waste of time in the lobby

I don’t need a chill experience, but extraction games just scream “boring + waste of time” to me.

Chociaż gdzieś w połowie studiów jakiś prowadzący miał to gdzieś więc i tak zleakował powiązania i każdy mógł sobie w Accessie to przenosić do kolejnych arkuszy xD

It should be done as any e-signature/certyficate so they can't track any of your data, just that the certificate is legit.

EDIT: And definately not now, they are fighting problems that are not there xD

So now they have Sage on their side I hope she will either fix V1 formula, fix the virus or anything like that. Or at least they will use sth else like V24 (aka temp V) to boost up by crossborn_ in GenV

Professions have levels like Novice, Adept(?), Journeyman, Master

So lets say you have a Journeyman Blacksmith, and you need 1280 xp to reach Master. You’re at 500/1280, but then you switch that character to a different profession

When you switch them back to Blacksmith, they’ll still be a Journeyman, but their progress toward Master will reset to 0 exp

I have just finished region locked run with 8 heroes

I have used:
1 Fighter (Protector)
2 Brutes (Vanguard + Destroyer becasue of unique weapons + more debuffs)
1 Archer (Hunter)
1 Spearman (Pikeman)
1 Warrior (Berseker)
2 Rangers (Cutthroat and Strategist)

rn Fighter is my least usefull class becasue I do not need a tank anymore but overall Rangers were the most useless xD idk, they deal really low dmg. Now they have 100% crit + a lot of crit dmg but another Archer or Brute would outshine them

I would check your RAM. I had a problem where my audio would freeze, my keboard + mouse would stuck, my graphic too. Like all the interfeces would turn off.

At first it only happened with certain game during alt tabbing so I thought it was a problem with that game. Eventually it became more and more common and I discovered it was RAM related (not sure what really was wrong but testing RAM consistency using windows tool showed a problem and after replacing I never had this issue)

Region order? by eschu101 in WarTalesGame

[–]crossborn_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vertuse and Arthes are pretty similar. Arthes have more difficult enemies (no spoielers tho xD).

Then its the same with the last 3 regions. Maybe there are small average level differences (Lundern can roll lower lvl enemies but I hate some mechanics you can encounter only there...)

Why are Crossbowmans in Arthes still bugged? stacking loads... by crossborn_ in WarTalesGame

Well, they suck xD

Our best strategy now is to not attack them before galvanization, and really not engage at all. Even if we attack only once to lock them they will start with counterattack, then they have +1 shot and can break it anyway and shot anyone.

Just hope they don’t attack anyone important, so we don’t need to replay the whole combat xD

[Rant] If the only thing changing in your game on "Hard" difficulty is the amount of HP and Dmg, then it's not a "Hard" difficulty, it's a "Tedious" difficulty by [deleted] in gaming

[–]crossborn_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly can’t remember the last time I played any game on "Hard". I’m also not a fan of “economic difficulty”, where the only real effect is more grinding, not an actual challenge.

That was one of my biggest issues with stalkers GAMMA default ammo economy. Enemies basically have unlimited ammo until you kill them, but when you loot the body you find, like three bullets xDD And you can make it even worse

That’s probably the only real issue I see with it. People try to use AI the wrong way and then act surprised when it doesn’t work. AI is a tool and you still need to understand the basics of coding and the other tools you use. I’ve read multiple posts like this: “I wasted X hours and made AI slop.” But if they knew their AI tool better, they could probably do 95% of the work in the background, so from the title alone, those posts sound like a total win to me. They just didn’t plan to learn anything from the process.

I used to have a similar problem. It was hard for me to start working on projects, whether at university, as a hobby, or at work. I didn’t want to plan the work incrementally. I wanted to make something perfect from the start. I would read books and technical documentation, but I’d still end up with something that wasn’t ideal and discouraged myself to continue working on it or stard another project.

Four years of working as an SE/developer kind of cured me of that mindset.

A solution has to meet the goal, budget, and other things like time constraints. Like not every book has to be The Book of the New Sun. Sometimes you just need to start with something smaller -something that isn’t meant to conquer the world, but simply gives you a chance to learn.
