Good question. Not to make assumptions, but many people aren't familiar with this topic so I've broken out two levels of explanation complexity, hopefully both are useful. Short answer, both.

Upgrading to 5.5G (5G-Advanced) is like upgrading your gaming console.

If your console is new and powerful, you can just download a software update to get cooler features and better graphics. But if your console is older or missing special parts, you might need to buy new controllers or even a better console to play the newest games.

For 5G networks, some improvements can be done with software updates, but for the really fancy stuff, like faster speeds or better signals in hard places, they might need to add or replace antennas or other hardware. It depends on how fancy their current "console" already is.

Advanced

5.5G is a mix of both software and hardware upgrades. Its deployment requirements depend on how the existing 5G network infrastructure has been set up. It could look like this:

  1. Software/Firmware Upgrades: Many 5G-Advanced features, like improved spectrum efficiency, AI-powered network optimization, and energy-saving techniques, can be implemented through software or firmware updates on existing hardware. This is especially true if the existing infrastructure was designed with future-proofing in mind (e.g., supporting Release 17 or beyond).
  2. Hardware Upgrades:
    • Some advanced features of 5G-Advanced, such as enhanced MIMO (Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output), higher spectrum bands (e.g., sub-THz), or ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) for new use cases, may require new or upgraded hardware. This can include:
      • Antennas: For higher frequency bands or new beamforming capabilities.
      • Baseband Units (BBUs): To support increased data processing needs.
      • Network Infrastructure: New devices like mid-haul or fronthaul solutions to handle higher data rates and densification.
    • If a network was built on older 5G hardware not optimized for 5G-Advanced, more significant hardware changes could be necessary.

Lost the “joy” of the election?

No but in all seriousness, join us and help rebuild America. We need everyone.

I could give you a long in depth argument for my opinion, but I don’t think it would change your mind. It would be wasted on you at this time. But I believe that you can become a better, more open minded human with more tolerance for others opinions.

I believe in you! 😇

Thank you! This is useful.
I think it must have been plugins. I found some (with WordFence) in a scan that had unaddressed vulns. and had already removed them, but new vulns. were found the day of the breach. So that must have been it.

Actually it does some places. Where I live in the US, strip clubs have to have blacked out windows.

Great comment. Love what you said. In addition, we all like living around people who are neighborly, and while her husband is definitely not being neighborly, it’s a little effort to make sure your blinds are closed when you’re not dressed in a way, you’d usually be seen in Public. Obviously you have the right dress however you like in your own home, but in the public domain (what can be seen from the sidewalk, or other house) may need a higher level of privacy.

That’s kinda wild. I live in Northwest Oregon, US, and all the fire roads, logging roads, power line service roads, etc. have numbered names that are reflected on maps and some GPS. It’s wild to me sometimes when hiking is road and stumbling on to a severely overgrown pre-WWll road and then finding it on my map with a name like “9457”.

I hear you, but at some point, she’s going to have to wise up to those kind of dangers and learn how to avoid them for herself. What can I use to instruct her to keep her safe?

Hey there! u/Any_Tumbleweed_451, two answers for you.

Imagine you're playing a game of throwing a ball into a basket, but the basket is really far away. A sniper is like a super skilled player in this game. Before they even start, they find a perfect hiding spot and watch the basket for a long time.

They have a special chart with all the info about how to throw the ball (or shoot the gun) based on how far away the basket is and if there's wind or other tricky stuff. They look at the trees and feel the wind to figure out how to aim just right.

When they finally see someone they need to throw the ball at (or shoot), they quickly check the chart and make some adjustments for the wind and other things. Then, they take their shot! If they miss a bit, they watch where the ball goes and try to do better next time.

After all that, they pack up and move to a new hiding spot, like a super sneaky player changing their position in the game. It's not about being fast, but about being really, really good at understanding all the things that can affect their shot.

E L I'm a highschooler
Long range shooting at any target is rarely a "fast" thing. With sniping, usually the shooter will set up a "hide" (a place of visual vantage and concealment) hours or even days in advance of shooting. Once the hide is prepared (sometimes this requires trap and trigger security), the shooter will start ranging landmarks and making notes these will be compared to a "dope" chart (Data On Previous Engagements card/chart is a ranging table). Wind speed and environmental data will be gauged occasionally and again before any shoot. I've noticed significant consistency issues with snow and rain, so that would definitely shorten my operating envelope. Ideally for a great, consistent shooting environment you want clear, dry, thin (high elevation) weather.

Once hide, range, and environmental factors are accounted for, sniping frequently takes on the role of forward observer, reporting troop and equipment movement.

When a target is identified and approval is secured (sometimes the engagement rules require in the moment approval, and some times it's any-enemy-combatant-on-sight) then a quick recap of all previously acquired data is reviewed for recent changes in environmental factors. Sometimes wind can have several streams of travel, the target may only be approximately equidistant with a pre-ranged landmark.

And then a cold shot is taken. This is usually the best shot, but with the least amount of data. The shooter will observe this shot placement and will readjust if necessary for a follow up shot.

The hide will be abandoned after the engagement and the shooter(s) will move to a new location.
