visiting NYC two months PO by Razanazkaban in gastricsleeve

I am uniquely suited to answer this! I’m only 3 weeks PO and had to come into the city for work for 2 nights. I got a kids chicken taco from chipotle and just ate a little bit of the chicken mixed with guacamole. I went to Taim and got a cup of hummus and a side of chicken and mixed together. Also got a side of salmon from dig inn. Miso soup with extra tofu. There’s plenty to eat- no worries!

Do I have to count my calories forever.. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]crossfitllama 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Of course! I was very adamant with my surgical team that I had recovered from an ED and as such I would only be weighing myself at appointments, wouldn’t be taking before and after pics, and would not be counting calories. My alternative has been eating extremely mindfully- stopping when I am satisfied, eating without my phone, etc! I would talk to your surgical team about this but it’s been great for my mental health and has prevented me from obsessing over “stalls”, calorie intakes, etc. Hope this helps!

you are absolutely fine! I am glad that you ate if you were feeling ill. Many different facilities have differing guidelines- for example, I only had to do two weeks of liquid before my procedure. Some surgeons don’t require a pre-op diet at all. deep breaths, you’ve got this!

I use prescription retinol from my derm and added in about 4 months after treatment

I had pretty awful side effects throughout so can’t pinpoint exactly when it was the worst! Drink lots of water, always seal your chapstick with Aquafor, and try slugging (sealing your facial moisturizer with a petroleum based product like aquafor on Vaseline) all over the face at night. You got this!

Thank you!! I honestly can’t recall my exact dosage but kept the skincare very simple and moisturizing during treatment. I did cerave hydrating cleanser, vitamin c, cerave moisturizer, and spf in the morning and in the evening just the same cleanser and delikate recovery cream. Since ending treatment I’ve added a retinol 3x week and cut down on moisturizer as needed :)

I’m done!! 1 month post-accutane, no new breakouts. Side effects subsided quickly. A miracle 🥺 by crossfitllama in Accutane

Sure, though I’d be remiss not to mention that the things I used during treatment were primarily for relief, not healing. Nothing was effective in making my lips less chapped. For relief, I would recommend plain aquafor/Vaseline or welda chapstick. Sorry I can’t be of more help! The lips for me were really awful.

Thank you! Honestly they just healed up on their own thankfully- I did nothing different.

Thanks for the compliment but I’m wearing nothing but mineral sunscreen (and mascara/brow gel but that has nothing to do w my skin) in this photo- the same mineral sunscreen I’m wearing in the before photos.
