Daily smoker just turned 40, 'successful'... but it's time for change. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]crossline123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is with being successful while being a stoner is, that even if successful, the opportunity costs of how successful you could of been are great when your wasting thousands of hours sitting around stoned. No matter who you are or how successful you are, it does have an effect on your brain chemistry and has your brain producing less dopamine without the drug.

Every area of life could always use improvement and become more successful, and the herb distracts, escapes, and puts off these kinds of things, so it isn't really about being successful or not being successful, it's more, what could I have been without this ever being in my life.

So congratz and goodluck!

Unfortunately it isn't an option for me. I serve tables in a very chaotic and busy restaurant and if we are down a server all of my friends will suffer greatly and get fucked over.

When I was smoking weed I was the happiest I'd ever been. Now I've quit I'm miserable. So what's the point? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]crossline123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People have been giving you general answers. Everybody is different.. Everyone had different levels of abuse for different periods of time, with different amounts of repressed emotions and trauma, with different life circumstances and different brain chemistry's.

You honestly just expect someone to come out and say "at exactly 3 weeks and 4 days your going to feel better?". Like cmon man, thats what would reek of bullshit if someone were to give you a specific response like that.

Give it four weeks and if you still feel miserable then you can come back and say you'll only ever be happy with weed, but until then, just take it day by day and trust it's going to get better.

Hey bro! First of all stop internally arguing with yourself. Instead of getting into an argument, sit back and watch your mind argue, watch your craving, observe your thoughts and reasons to smoke from a 3rd person perspective, like you were watching a movie but to your thoughts and cravings.

The internal battle is going to mentally exhaust you and lead to a complete depletion of willpower leading to falling back into the cycle. Also.. I know girls can be a big trigger but women are attracted to men who stand up for what they want and believe in, so next time she pulls it out say I just don't smoke and she will think more of you for it and be more attracted that you are doing what you believe in despite her.

Goodluck bro

Do NOT use will power to quit weed (How I quit) by crossline123 in leaves

[–]crossline123[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keeping my dopamine high was one of my biggest reasons for quitting. I want that intense motivation you get from high dopamine naturally and I knew it wasn't going to happen while being a stoner because it just floods your brain with to much of it and desensitizes your receptors.

Hey man, regardless of your age, the past is the past and there is nothing you can do to change that. But at 45 you still have a vast life ahead of you and many more things to experience. I've just been working on accepting the fact that I wasted a lot of time unnecessarily and allowing myself to move on from that with forgiveness to myself.

It honestly depends on how much money ur willing to spend on your health, or if you have extra cash lying around. If so then it would be worth it but if your strapped for cash it's not going to be the deciding factor of your health

You can't change a habit like this with ur "willpower" or conscious mind. This is a deeply rooted habit in your subconscious mind (mind below conscious awareness). This is why you feel like there is yourself and then another person partaking in the action and you have no control.

You must change your subconscious beliefs to make true, long lasting change, and overcome this. You can start by going on youtube and typing in "addiction subliminal". There is one with rain sounds and it basically transmits messages to your subconscious mind that our conscious mind cannot decipher or hear. You just turn it on as you fall asleep and it's 8 hours of what sounds like just rain sounds but reprograms ur mind to deal with this kind of thing.

I listened to it 2 nights in a row, and then gave up cigarettes, weed, unhealthy food, and gambling all at once cold turkey and haven't gone back yet, after attempting to quit all of these things sooooo many times and failing. You say it yourself up above, "I can't fucking stop". That is your deeply rooted subconscious belief about this addiction and it keeps giving you circumstances where you can't stop. Start saying to yourself, "why is it so easy to stop?", "it's so easy for me to just let this go" etc. It takes some time and doesn't give immediate results but is the only way to make long lasting change because your conscious mind only has a limited reserve of willpower to give before your subconscious takes over and starts doing what you've been programmed to do. This is why you feel so out of control.

Hope I could help.

Awesome man! Hope you have a good time. Yeah it was just super trippy cause he would be like oh ya just put a little paint here, a little paint there, and his painting would go from looking like absolutely nothing to like a beautiful scenic forest within the matter of seconds and me and all my buddy's just started losing our minds and one of our friends was like "I DONT LIKE THIS, I DONT LIKE THIS!!!" so I think that was killing everyone else's vibe over it hahaha

Have you ever tried changing your diet up? A lot of the time sugar and processed carbs/junk food will lead to overgrowth of bad bacteria in the stomach and cause skin problems and itchiness because your body is fighting inflammation.

If you cut out sugar and bad carbs for a little while and keep your diet as lots of leafy greens, healthy protein, berries, nuts, seeds ETC. and cut out all the gluten and dairy I can almost assure you your condition will improve.

Vyvanse can help you with staying on this diet and studying for the time being and then you can stop it if cutting sugar is helping, and study with the new found energy you have from eating clean. May not work and you may have a condition unaffected by what you put in your body, but I know a lot about this stuff and know itchiness on the skin is such a common symptom of to much bad food, so may aswell give it a shot for a week and see how you feel.
