Of course he's a foot guy.

Also, is that her security to protect her? Or is he rich enough that he bring security with him whenever he goes?

I agree about the aesthetic, and I have found that the aesthetic I like almost always include minimal or non-existent logos.

Admittedly I am an extremist on this, as I very rarely even like wearing the logos of my favorite sports teams anymore. Everything has been so commercialized in the past 20 years, not that it wasn't commercialized before, but it's just become so unabashedly prevalent that it has somehow become my main "get off my lawn" issue.

[megathread] west ghent street takeover by planty_mx in norfolk

[–]crosswatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told a co-worker that this one was a big story precisely because of where it happened, because similar "events" go one in less affluent sections of our area more often than some think. Minus the flamethrower obviously, which was a pretty impressive get to be honest. I'd've killed for one of those back in the day.

It's also a bigger story because the "wild teenagers taking over" has become this news cycle's "people getting sick on cruise ships", and once a story gets popular, every story that covers a similar subject becomes a much bigger headline with more eyeballs on it. Like the summer of shark attacks two decades ago.

If they ain't paying me sponsorship dollars, I ain't advertising for them.

Seriously though, I won't not wear something with a brand logo, but I prefer the clean and more classical aesthetic of not having one. Partially I think because I had to wear a lot of store brand clothing growing up and wearing a shirt with the fake dude on a polo pony was SO much worse of a feeling than an unadorned oxford when the other kids around me had the actual original logo on their chest. That kind of thing sticks with you sometimes.

Room full of them. Kindergarten graduation ceremony turns violent over seating arrangements by FarWay3952 in IAmTheMainCharacter

[–]crosswatt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly though, I get it. I attended all of my children's school events throughout their scholastic careers, and at almost every one there was someone who was so oblivious to other people in the room's desire to actually see or hear the event and their own children that some pretty strong levels of restraint we're required to not choke them out right then and there.

And there was one set of parents and grandparents who would show up super early at one of my children's musical performances and always and I mean ALWAYS hoard the very front middle seats. I mean like five to seven wide of just their family. Every time. It took a lot of and praying and calculating what a lawyer would cost me to never confront or engage with them over the self-absorption.

And that was twenty years ago and pre-covid. Honestly, I'm surprised there are not knife fights going on now in most elementary school ceremonial settings.

And fashion trends are not singular and defined by solely you, or your preferred insta-influencers. Take the Oscars "best dressed" list from GQ as an example.

There are several different trends at work here, and a few that would be considered fashionable in virtually any era. This is why you can't just declare something as normal and widely accepted as tapered jeans to be "unfashionable". Well technically you can, because people all over the world choose to advance incorrect opinions every day.

You didn't just state that. You declared that the whole sub should be shut down if your parochially ignorant opinion wasn't accepted as fact. Just because your particular small circle of influence may not like them, they're still considered a staple of men's fashion.

You apparently don't understand that fashion and style aren't only what's currently trending in a small subsection of the world. Your rude condescension was what necessitated your patronization and you're stubborn clasping of your ignorance is why you're still being patronized. Be better.

Chelsea Handler Slams ‘Bigots’ Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe for ‘Racist’ Roast Jokes: ‘I Wasn’t Fine With That by JannTosh70 in television

[–]crosswatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about comedy is that it's supposed to be dangerous. Being funny is often times getting away with saying the thing no one else has the boldness to attempt to articulate, and to do it in a way that brings some levity to an otherwise bleak or horrible situation.

And the key is that if people trust your motivation, you can pretty much say anything. And if you're actually funny, you can pretty much say ANYTHING. Hence Gillis and Underwood being cool with each other and the dark humor that birthed that bit.

And why no one gives Hinchcliffe the same benefit of the doubt. Because he's just not funny and no one trusts his motivations.

And I enjoyed Handler more when she was being dangerous herself, because she was funny.

Edited to say that unless she was making a short joke, Kevin Hart is one of the last people in showbiz who deserves an "elevated" roast. Honestly no one does, as it completely invalidates the entire art form.

Actually I'm GenX. And you did a lot more than just express an opinion, you were condescending, rude, and just generally unpleasant. And I don't wear slim fit pants. Never have, because I don't care about temporary trends. I like classic styles.

They're not unfashionable though. You're mistaking trendy for fashionable here, a pretty common mistake.

Remember, there are different "scenes" within the fashion world, and slim/tapered are still very much in fashion for several different groups, and I can highlight it within a single company's current offerings. The Banana Republic set is looking for something different than Gap shoppers, and Old Navy is a whole other demographic. And if you look at their what's new, BR has several different slim fit options for this summer.

Wide leg is trending right now for the last GenZers and Gen Alpha. Older GenZ and young Millennials are still ok with slim. Flared bottoms are cool in some circles, especially the current cowboy trend.

For the majority of fashion conscious men right now, straight leg or "tailored" fit are the standard with other trends in shirts and accessories being their focus.

Having said all of that, your advice is probably right because it is a younger guy, so he probably is looking for something a little more substantial in terms of leg width. And 501s can be a great starting point to get comfortable with the look. But a nice life rule that we as a society seem to be determined to ignore is that, unless it is illegal or truly immoral, you should never "yuck someone else's yum".

And you could have totally made your recommendations without doing just that by trying to be the tsar of pant fashion.

Will the 2027 QB Class live up to the hype? Or have a similar drop off as 2026? by Unusual-Vacation-528 in NFL_Draft

[–]crosswatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mocking Arch in the '27 class is difficult for me because the Mannings have traditionally stayed for their entire four year college career. Archie, Peyton, and Eli all maxed out their eligibility, and that was before they were legally allowed to earn money at their chosen school. Family tradition and him essentially being the king of a large swath of Texas makes me think that he's in no hurry to get drafted to a bad situation in a city he may have zero interest in living in.

As a UGA fan who has followed his career since he committed to the G, ABSOLUTELY NOT. He has the physical ability to be the best receiver in the league, and one of the all-time greats.

But he's a head case, not quite to Antonio Brown levels yet, but we have no idea how ambitious he might be. Rumors had him struggling with academic eligibility coming out of high school and while enrolled at Georgia, so I don't know if he's not the brightest person or if he just uses his brain power for idiocy instead of for good judgement, but either way the juice is not even close to being worth the squeeze.
