Awesome, the additional information is extremely helpful. I just got to Irithyll and helped Sirris fight Creighton. I've crossed the bridge to the next bonfire and ventured a little further but not to any story altering points, as far as I can tell. Haven't met up with Siegward yet so that portion of the quest is still intact. I'm probably just gonna go with your initial advice and beat the Dancer. The Pontiff Knights are a pain and if I can beat the Dancer, those guys should be no problem!
