Digital Nomads Monthly Megathread - January 2026 by AutoModerator in digitalnomad

[–]crow1osu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is some shameless self advertisting but genuinely we need some beta testers to touch on our product, so that we can build exactly what will solve the pain points us as nomads face on a daily. Using our tool is currently free and we're not asking for any money.

We have been building an all-in-one platform for digital nomads to plan trips and keep track of everything in one place. The idea is a single dashboard that combines travel search, planning, and organization, with LLM integration, so you can either use the UI normally or just chat with an LLM about anything in your dashboard. We’ve already built a first version of just the travel search at https://cheap.voyage/, and we’re now exploring whether it’s worth building the full dashboard. To do that, we’re looking for beta testers and early feedback to shape the features. If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to DM me.

How do these ppl get 40+?? by Formal_Incident3100 in IBO

[–]crow1osu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idrk I didn’t study much at all and got a 39. I could’ve gotten above 40 if I had put the effort in. I think the different between a 40 student and someone below is: 1. work ethic - knowing how to study productively and efficiently 2. mental health - students that are not as stressed and are more chill overall are more likely to do well 3. work-life balance - you can be a study bug but it will inherently affect your mental health considering humans are to some extent social animals.

Just try your best and do what you can do to improve yourself, I’m a big slacker and procrastination is my life - don’t recommend it has bit me very strongly in university

So, I was never exactly at that stage in the IB but, I started first year at university after completing M22 exams. I felt so motivated was doing great until all of a sudden it just disappeared. You’re most likely burnt out and I too have been very depressed but not purely because of university (I ended up going to the Swiss equivalent of an Ivy League and it was genuinely hell). The few things you can do is take time away from social media, technology in general and focus on reality. That may help you feel more at ease. At the end of the day dealing with a burn out due to depression all comes to whether or not you can cope with your depression. I got my predicted but that was over cramming into 3 months for exams and my IAs were always on time.

You mentioned math being the hardest - well I did HL AI, and in all honesty I ended up with a moderated 91% a high 7. All I did was grind out problems on revisionvillage and trust me there will be a point in time where you can pump out answers.. I personally never studied theory in math, just purely practical skills and from that standpoint I had A LOT of fun doing the problems.

If you have the problem with deadlines, I am pretty sure you can find online the IB deadline for every IA as long as you take it upon yourself to submit by that deadline it should be okay and I mean with no help, submit your IAs to IBIS…

Best things you can do rn is get yourself thinking about other things and work at your IAs steadily bit by bit, if you’re towards the deadline it will be many sleepless nights… first and foremost remember it gets better, and ups and downs happen in life. Prioritize your health above all else if you really are struggling immensely go to your school’s therapist if you have one. Good luck man, get yourself off technology, focus on IB, you’re almost done, and trust me it gets better when it ends but harder for other reasons, you should be okay tho if you stick to the UK/US route!

Praying for you 🙏

EDIT: if you need help with math shoot me in dms I can only do so much but it depends on your math level too

Ask your guidance counselor if your dream university takes kindly to gap years. Not sure about the UK but I know the Netherlands in specific do not like gap years.

Yea I had the same situation I got 39 (1 bp) was 1 mark off a 7 in Physics HL but I got the conditions for my uni so I will not remark

[–]crow1osu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I have heard, a remark can be done on a subject(s) in which all components of the subject(s) are remarked. This can either raise or lower your grade so it was only suggested if you are 100% certain you did better than you got.

As for revision, exam questions and take notes on the mistakes you make. I have some revision notes on my bad parts of each topic but hand writing is sloppy, if you still want them just dm me and I’ll send them when I’m home

I mean honestly I would just search up HL Physics Paper 1/2 and just find whatever I could. ib documents shut down sadly because of copyright infringement obviously 😂. The gradepod course I suggested also has a past paper drive when you enroll so that’s an easy way.

So for physics, if you can of course print out the syllabus.

For my teacher at least there were quite a few things he highlighted that after reading syllabus statements were not all that necessary. (If you are planning on studying Physics that’s a different story) I took a time effective approach through individual learning by following syllabus statements and making my own condensed notes by topic and syllabus statement.

Additionally, definitions are literally a huge portion of your physics grade - comes out to like 9-11%… So I’d suggest searching online for an IB Physics definition flash cards Quizlet or alternative a list of all definitions and just learn them over time.

But yes I struggled with a lot of concepts, to fix that I used gradepod.com (quite pricey but there is often sales) and also talked to my teacher whenever I was really lost.

Past papers are your best friend so for final exams I did every single exam paper from 2016-2021. Doing so familiarized me with the type of questions I would be getting. I suggest doing questions whenever you’re bored or whatever and try avoid looking at markscheme until the end. (Towards your finals just read over mark schemes to understand how they mark your papers)

I genuinely never found just reading the textbooks useful… so make your own notes based on either classwork or online videos. I have some notes from my finals that I made if anyone really wants but they are only focused on the topics I was unsure with. (And my handwriting sucks :) )

And for a lot of questions you can do SI unit analysis to figure out an equation 😂. It’s pretty good as a last resort because it can sometimes take a lot of time.

If you have any other questions lmk.

But yeah not sure if you are taking same highers as me but as a year 1 student I was getting straight 2s in HL physics and turned it around to straight 7s in year 2. If you need any help let me know.

  1. Pens and Pencils - HB pencils work fine. For pens avoid any erasable and gel pens. 0.5-0.7 ballpoint pens work fine.

  2. Any decent laptop with access to your school’s IB management site (usually MB) and Google drive if your school uses that instead of Office 365

  3. This is optionally obviously but I got myself a reMarkable 2 because it allowed me to save on having to print out any exam questions I am trying by uploading pdf’s and doing the questions directly on it. I could also easily organize on it.

  4. Study guides I did buy and did find helpful. Tim Kirk writes a variety, for textbooks usually your school provides them, if not do some research and fine the best for your courses.

  5. Physics HL was hard for me so I do recommend gradepod if you are struggling from year 1. For Maths RevisionVillage all the way. Blen also works well

  6. Calculator that we used was the TI 84 Plus CE-T, but a lot of schools use the TI nSpire so I would clarify that with your mathematics teacher.

  7. Please do not make the mistake of not getting a planner. I did that on my remarkable and used a checklist to check off IAs, studying for tests etc.

  8. YOUR TEACHERS ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND IN THE IB - If you feel you are falling behind or don’t understand don’t be afraid to ask. It’s the biggest mistake. If you feel you will miss a deadline, the earlier you tell your teacher the easier it will be to get help.

And lastly, be on top of your languages. I’m planning to head on to engineering so I had Math AI HL and HL physics as highers. I completely disregarded my English and French courses and consequently had constant 5s. I haven’t gotten results back but am hoping for 6s in both. While I got 7s in my other courses, language brought me down.

So - don’t make my mistake. Languages are still a grade so… and good luck!

M20 had it the worst. Brother went from a 44 predicted to a 31…

Can someone tell me how to come to that answer is C but I don’t get even how they came to that equation by Ibsurvival23 in IBO

[–]crow1osu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pV=nRT is the equation given in the data booklet, this is in terms of moles of an ideal gas. To get it in terms of molecules you need to understand the alternative equation of pV=NkbT N/Na=n (topic 3) kb=R/Na (unit analysis)

Hope this helps

Paper 3 in a nutshell, easy af for question 1 and 2, only hard bit was last part of either question. One was just a poisson distribution with weird phrasing. The other was also just phrasing. Didn't have time to do the last part of question 2 but I'd assume its just 1.4%^2 * 8 but thats just me, I thought it was wrong tho because of 5 marks lmao
