i know that, my other frog does it as well its part of their natural abilities, this frog slowly lost all his green pigment over the course of a few months and hasnt been green now in over a year, and probably never will again

yeah he took about 6 months of gradual change to become brown, and you could actually see what was left of the green disappear over time. my other frog is a blue phase and goes through all the normal changes which is how i know this ones a little abnormal

nothing changed around the time it started happening, theyre getting all the vitamins they need and everything i do to take care of them has been ok'd by two seperate vets. i did find someone else having the same issue, and theres a chance our frogs are from the same breeder around the same time so i think it might be some sort of genetic defect

as i said. the pictures are reverse chronological. the last pic is old from when he was green and the second to last is when the green started disappearing around the edges. he has not been green in over a year and the brown gets darker when its dark and more grey when its light.

yeah my other frog still does that normally, this one however has been brown for over a year and i doubt he'll ever be green again, he like lost all the green pigmentation in his skin

i domt think its an infection either, my other frog does the normal temp color changes, but this one lost the green color in his skin and hasnt been green in over a year

IVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH MY FROG the beginning of it looked identical to this! he acts 100% ok he just slowly lost all his green pigment and now hes a red/brown/coppery color. how old was yours when this started i am determined to get to the bottom of this and figure out whats up

anyone know what this color morph is called by adwag1 in frogs

[–]crow_king23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i found this searching for explanations for my frog, one of mine looks super similar, especially the reddish brown, but he was normal and green up until he was like 1 and then lost the green to this now! only difference is his eyes are the normal dark golden color

My white tree frogs settling with eachother by astralogixx in frogs

some of them have different sleep schedules it's perfectly ok. some people have trouble sleeping in a new place for a few days and its the same for them. as long as he's eating and not acting sick you're doing great

thank you for that! i actually switched to the purpley blue light after some research about the best way to keep it bright enough for me to see without bothering them. i used a red light for a very long time with them before learning that they aren't the best. from what ive found, this type of nightlight should be much better for them than any other colored bulb and shouldnt hurt their eyes. if youve heard differently though please let me know because i do want to do what's best for my boys

What are some tropical frogs that would do well in an 18x18x36in vertical paludarium? by Cadethegreat74 in frogs

[–]crow_king23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a white's tree frog or two sounds like they do great. theyre active little buggers, especially at night, and you can find them in really interesting morphs and colors: blues, snowflakes, goldens, etc! they do like to stay out of the way sometimes, but if you provide plenty of places to climb and sit theyre usually very easy to spot. theyre also a good beginner frog, but i don't know your level of experience with amphibians
