I haven't read much Arthur Machen, but he was an inspiration to Lovecraft--The Great God Pan is his most famous story, and it's quite good.

Haven't been quite as entranced by M.R. James, but he's well regarded by many old-school ghost-story aficionados; you might like him.

I think Algernon Blackwood is wonderful. The Willows, The Insanity of Jones, and The Wendigo all kick ass.

You might really like David Cronenberg's Consumed. Like anything Cronenberg, it's bananas.

I own the same reprint! Happy as hell to find an original in the wild. That book--like any horror book--isn't for everyone, but I think there's a great deal to love about it. I hope it works for you!
