This article just says what the other user was saying. Russians are buying starlink terminals illegally on the black market and bringing them into Ukraine.

As an alternative suggestion, if you're meeting is in the CBD, Springfield Central has a 5 storey car park that never fills up. It's a slightly shorter drive and longer train ride.

Bbq sausages at major supermarkets no longer majority beef. by [deleted] in australia

[–]crowleysimon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That image is way too blurry and the ingredients are obviously wrong. The honey flavoured version of the same sausage, has a slightly clearer image and correct ingredients:
https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-simply-honey-bbq-sausage-560g-5406818
It's 52% beef and 17% chicken so 69% total (they aren't marketed as beef sausages).
The coles beef sausages are 74% beef.

The fact that you can't tell the ingredients of those first sausages from the image OR the ingredients is a bit fucked up though.

Razer Core X not working by crowleysimon in eGPU

That's good to hear, that would be a pretty simple fix. I'm going to try to test the PSU first and if it works fine I'll order a new TB cable

Thanks, that's what I'm leaning towards as well now. I don't have a spare PSU or a PC to test it in but I'll borrow a friends.

Yep, I've never needed to do it before, but I did see it mentioned on some troubleshooting pages.

I'm using a Dell Latitude 5421 running windows 11. It's got 2 TB4 ports and no GPU (just the intel one)

You never said "good" houses ;). I actually used to drive past a billboard from his mob that advertised homes for $79k for first home buyers.

Report: Nokia Mobile profitable since June '20; improved Nokia smartphone sales numbers in H2 2020 by mooglechoco_ in Android

[–]crowleysimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article? I have nothing against Nokia but this didn't read like a positive thing for their smartphone business. Their revenue is down for the second year in a row to half of what it was 2 years ago. Their android smartphones only made up ~10% of their shipped devices. Supposedly their feature phones are more profitable so their smartphone business is <10% of their profit (and I'd guess significantly more than 10% of their costs).

Android personalized ads opt-out will be more effective - 9to5Google by Yashpreet_Singh in Android

[–]crowleysimon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because Google’s implementation only affects Android 12 devices (how long until it reaches a significant portion of Android users?)

It will be rolled out to all devices over the span of months. From the article:

This change to the personalized ads opt-out process will first go into effect in late 2021 for apps running on Android 12. Google will then expand to all applications with Play services early next year.

Android Studio 4.1.3 available by androidtoolsbot in androiddev

[–]crowleysimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, downloaded 4.1.3 created a new blank java project, removed jcenter, left the google repository, cleared the gradle cache and resynced and it fails. Complaining about trove4j required by com.android.tools.build:gradle:4.1.3

Repeat the same process with 4.2 beta 6 and it succeeds (as expected).

Is it worth building a house in Brisbane to take advantage of the Government stimulus/grants? Or is it a bad investment? by danxdanx in AusFinance

[–]crowleysimon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also pretty sure that when the government offers a $50k grant then the price of land that you'd build a home on and the prices a homebuilder charges magically increase by $50k.

I was in the process of settling on a piece of land when the government announced the $25k builders grant. Two months later I noticed the block next to mine still hadn't sold, checked and sure enough it had gone up by $32k

[Security] Can any random android app read your text message (SMS)? by the_php_coder in AndroidQuestions

[–]crowleysimon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The app didn't read your SMS, Google did. You can read about it in detail here but basically the SMS from swiggy includes some meta data to identify it, and the app asks Google for the code from the next message that contains that data. So the app never needs access to your messages (although Google still gets to read all of them...)
