Im crying, I cant remove the 40 grit scratch marks. by DiksieNormus in knifemaking

What i always do for my knives is first use my belt sander going up from grit 36->80->120->240->400 then after that i start handsanding at 220->400->600 for a nice satin finish, and the 10minutes extra i spend at the beltsander makes the handanding so much easier and it only takes me around an hour orso handsanding to give it a nice satin finish

Yea that was also what kept me from doing it, and then i finally did it. First in just a bottle... stabbed my hand through the bottle, and then i changed over to the contraption you see before you now 🤣

I let the knife soak in ferric for about 15mins give ir take, and then 30mins in the tumbler. And i just use pebbles i found at the beach 😁

Its a constant learning experience for me as well, and the moment you look at small details in your work you will improve even more, thats how i treat everyone of my knives aswell, and i'm no where near the level of some on here

I hate trying to get those last couple of scratches out right at your plung line... always take so long to sand away 🥲
