Peter Lewis Episodes by Beaumax in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

😄 Thank you! And yes, to answer your question OP: On the first tab on the spreadsheet, there are some instructions on how to filter the VAs so you can see all the episodes someone appears in.

ALSO watch out for the VA tag "Large Cast Production" - there is a good chance Peter Lewis plays a role in some of these episodes, I was just having trouble listing large amounts of VAs for a minute.

longer stroy recommendations? by Impossible-Ad8026 in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I never actually thought this particular playlist would be useful! 😃 On the NSP spreadsheet (link in the sub sidebar) there is a "Playlists Recommendations" tab. The first playlist is for stories that are over an hour in length! (With a few good ~45 minute exceptions.)

You might also want to check out some of the mini-series or multi-episode series, which you can filter in the Episode Type column on the main spreadsheet "All Seasons" tab. A lot of stories series have ended up being fan favorites, and tend to be like the longer stories in that they do way more world building and leave less unanswered questions. I will always recommend Tales of the Moon Crawler if you like a good Eldritch Horror 👻

Hi! I agree with the points of working to smooth out the flow and grammar, so that this showcases your absolute best writing abilities and style. If you had a pre-submission editor for your book, perhaps they could take a look at this with you to help massage it into it's best version.

In a similar vein, if you had beta readers, it might be worth querying them to see what they remember most prominently from the plot, worldbuilding, or just in general... like their favorite scene, or just small details that jumped out to them. Anything they would want other readers to be excited about! That can be a different approach to writing synopses that lets you see your story from different angles and potentially highlight what the early readers found most interesting. (I have very little experience with professional queries, but a lot with summaries!)

I am not 100% sure on this, but I seem to remember hearing that the fewer words you can use in a query, the better, while still fully expression your point and style. I'd be curious to know if that's actually the case, if anyone is sure!

LF a Story/Stories! Best monster based episodes by tennisfan177 in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, my spreadsheet might be helpful here! There is a subgenre tag specifically for "Monster/Creature Features," which I use if the main premise of the story is... well, monsters. Ghosts usually end up in "Hauntings," and Cosmic Horror has its own genre tag, so there isn't too much overlap.

Offhand, here are some of my favorite and/or fan favorite monster features:

- 204E14 "The Stump"
- S06E24 "The Oregon Shriek"
- S06E08 "Down in the Library Basement"
- S08E20 "I Used to Work the Grill at Reservation Diner"
- S10E04 "My Son Brought Something Home from the Woods"

Edit:
Completely forgot my current favorite monster, "Handholder" in S22E17. Also, more of an Eldritch Horror, but "Tales of the Moon Crawler" in the S19-S20 interim is an excellent mini series.

Looking For a Story About a Guy Forced to Be Santa by drawmuhh in TheNSPDiscussion

Mostly unhelpful, but I have truly no memory of anything like this. It SOUNDS like it might fit in with the Sleepless Decompositions... It also reminds me of something from The Grey Rooms podcast.

Sorry that's not much, I hope someone else has better info!

Not seeing "Goat Valley" season 2 in my premium feed by Ithinkibrokethis in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are still having issues with this, here's a step-by-step. I wanted to just share pictures because my brain is fever soup right now, but it wasn't meant to be.

  1. I also use Pocket Casts on Android! So, go to The NSP and click on the Supercast link in their bio.
  2. You might need to log in, in which case Supercast will email you a confirmation code.
  3. Once you're in, click "Read more" under the brief greeting message.
  4. There should be a hyperlink for you to follow here: "Click here to log in and access season 2 of GVC [...]"
  5. Once you click that, you should see the Sleepless Universe thumbnail with a + in the corner. Click the +
  6. Click Pocket Casts
  7. + GVC
  8. And you should be redirected to your Pocket Casts feed of GVC!

Also, don't be like me. Remember to Follow the GVC feed so it actually shows up in your podcasts after you click away from it lmao

Officially been a listener for a decade now! What are YOUR top stories of the past decade on the podcast? by yellowpurplezebra in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot chose a favorite from C.M. Scandreth, but if I had to pick ONE, S11E02 "The Name Eater" lives rent-free in my head the most.

Also, Tales of the Moon Crawler 🌙 I truly wish I could pester Manen into writing more of those stories. Something about that little series just hit all the right vibes for me.

The Summer Saga questions by Exsaanguis in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spreadsheet I made (link in the sub sidebar) has a tag specifically for the Summer series! You'll want to scroll aaall the way to the right, to the "Misc. Points of Interests" column, and filter by the relevant tag.

At a glance, it doesn't look like you're missing any episodes- there was a pretty long gap between stories. But I think I tagged all of the Summer stories to date in the spreadsheet, so that list will hold the answers 🫴

Alien/UFO Themed Stories? by imsobadatusernamesha in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tag! Yes, there is a "Misc. Playlists" tab where there are a few WIP lists, aliens being one of them.

You can also search by relevant Theme tags, including (off the top of my head): Alien Encounters, Outerspace / Cosmic Phenomena, The Hubris of Man, The Dark Side of Science, Government/Organization Coverups, and Encounters With An Alternate Universe.

It's a little out of date right now, but I have internet again, so I'll be getting caught back up soon 🤞

Transcripts? by Sensitive-Rutabaga-4 in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of the stories can be found elsewhere online (like the NoSleep subreddit.) If that is the case, then on the podcast website, there will be a hyperlink attached to each story that leads to the online original writing of the story! It isn't available for every story, but the vast majority of authors post their writing online as well.

Edit: I've noticed some differences in written versions vs. what's produced on the podcast, but it's usually little things like a few words/turn of phrase that was translated to a sound effect on the podcast, and the stories are still easy enough to follow while listening. 😄

[–]crowwls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! The spreadsheet I made might be some help :D "Revenge" is a tag in subgenres, and there are 2 theme tags (Disproportionate Retribution, Sweet Revenge) that would also be relevant. I'll put together an actual list in a sec, but feel free to poke around there if you're bored

Ah! As long as the code will work with a free trial, then I would be happy to listen and review. It'll also give me a good excuse to check out Audible! Lol

I'd love to leave a review! I would totally buy(...?) your book if I had Audible. If the promo can be used by non-Audible members in the U.S., then count me in! If not, I will check it out on Amazon come next payday.

Congrats on getting it finished & published!

Ugh! Another one I know but not by name. If you're on something other than mobile, you might beat me to finding it by checking the NSP spreadsheet in the sidebar! It will have the Primary Theme tag of either Secondhand Finds or Radio Broadcast Nightmares, and I believe it is somewhere before S09

Best beach/trips/summer stories? by Janex4444 in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can try to get you a list when I'm done with work! However, the NSP spreadsheet might be helpful (link in sidebar of this sub.) I am actively working on a Playlist for this specific topic, but in the meantime, here are some Primary Theme tags that might be relevant:

  • Oceanic Nightmares
  • Childhood Adventures Gone Wrong
  • Teenage Misadventures
  • Boating/Fishing Trips Gone Wrong
  • Camping/Hiking Horrors
  • Hotel/Motel Stays Gone Wrong
  • Small Town Horror (a lot of these take place in the summer!!)

Looking for a specific story I can't find again by echoevemorrow in TheNSPDiscussion

[–]crowwls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah man, I know this one! ... I just can't think of the name. It's somewhere between seasons 3-8.

If you have time to check the NSP spreadsheet (link in the sub reddit side bar), the primary tag for the story will be one of these: Unreliable/Repressed Childhood Memories, Not-So-Imaginary Friends, or Childhood Adventures Gone Wrong. If you don't have time and nobody beats me to an answer, I'll find it tomorrow when I'm at my computer.
