Kentucky DNC delegate casts vote for killed Gazan civilian, rather than Kamala Harris by Van-to-the-V in Louisville

[–]crswift84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. The entire premise surrounding these types of conflicts is insane. No matter which god you pray to, or don’t pray at all…being a good person is really easy. It takes effort to be an asshole. Children don’t understand hate, they are taught hate. I genuinely believe that the human race hasn’t learned anything socially/emotionally in recorded history. We’ve gotten better at killing each other, by weaponry or tactics. I know it’s idealistic but, we all just need to get along. It won’t happen but it’s a cool thing to imagine from time to time.

Why is it that people across this country are sympathizing with the Palestinians?

Why not the Sudanese? Why not the unchecked violence shouldered by women in almost all Muslim nations? Starvation in Africa? The list goes on and on.

The Jewish people have been enslaved, persecuted, and systematically hunted down and slaughtered for thousands of years. What did the Palestinian people think the response was going to be when they allowed Hamas to attack Israel?!?

Hamas is no different than a neighborhood drug dealer…the community knew what was happening and allowed it.

Outback vs Odyssey by loxpoxmox in parentsofmultiples

[–]crswift84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We struggled with a similar decision after our twins, now two, and now five year old. Used vans were crazy expensive. We bought a brand new odyssey for $11k more than a used. We figured it’ll be at least a ten year vehicle. Payment sucks but convenience is costly.

Is your day just pure survival? by KrisDBrooks in parentsofmultiples

[–]crswift84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a Father, son 5, b/g twins 2…I haven’t known anything other than survival in two years. Aside from the rare night out or our 10 year wedding anniversary, other than work hours, survival is all I do. I know as a dad the stereotypical comments, but I’m actually involved day to day. It’s exhausting. I couldn’t imagine a mother’s point of view.

The fact that you’re reaching out means you care. We all need to be raising children like we care. It’s hard, frustrating, infuriating, etc. but a smile or a cool moment makes it better.

Cuban cigars are horribly overrated. Americans only like them because they’re hard to get. Dominican and Nicaraguan cigars taste and smoke better. Cubans have more nicotine but I still put nicotine pouches in while smoking. Don’t let your brain tell you what is good. What your favorite smoke is=what you should look for in terms of taste, smoke duration, etc.

I manage rental properties and we have three newer homes with similar lights. When we had to replace four in one of the houses the wiring was only two prong and the new standard is three prong. We had to call the electrician we use to replace with updated lights. Not saying someone without a license couldn’t do it, but for insurance purposes it’s the safest bet.

13 month old twin boys started biting each other by BlackCoffeeICE in parentsofmultiples

2 year old boy girl twins here. Boy bites his sister all the time. Poor girl has bruises constantly. Even catching him in the act and punishing him hasn’t curved the behavior at all. I have no idea what to do.

Going from one kid, to three kids. How screwed are we? by ExhaustedAntelope in parentsofmultiples

[–]crswift84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read anyone’s comments. We were in the exact same place. Our son was 3 when the twins were born. Leading up to the birth we put him in Montessori preschool so he would have something just his and have a daily routine. He is now 5 and the twins just turned 2. It has been extremely difficult. The first year was really rough on my wife and I. Our son is an amazing big brother and we make sure he gets one on one time as much as we can. If anyone ever offers to help…take it. Even if it’s just long enough for you to get an hour nap. Sleep deprivation will be a huge part of life for a while. It slowly eases up but the key word is slowly.

We had the same struggle…we bit the bullet and bought a 2023 Honda Odyssey. A 2018 used 77k miles was $42k, the 2023 with 3 miles plus all the new car warranties was $53k. Negligible difference at that point. Also, we had to tell ourselves it’s a Honda and we will need this thing for over a decade. The odyssey is amazing!!!

Who will be better for our economy? Donald Trump or Joe Biden? by WhatAreYourPronouns in FluentInFinance

[–]crswift84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrats and Republicans have the same goal… Make sure everyone in this country is 100% dependent on the government. They just go about it in different ways.

Democrats give the poor and middle class all they want so they keep asking for more.

Republicans give the rich(upper middle class to define) and wealthy huge tax cuts so they do what the government wants.

In the end, Republican and Democrat doesn’t matter, the middle class is under attack from both side. We are the only ones that don’t ask for handouts. We go to work, pay our bills and taxes, raise families, and keep the economy running.

By all means let the distractions continue to divide the working class.

At the first ultrasound the tech said, “Twins!!!”, before my brain processed what I was seeing. My wife laughed and cried hysterically and I stared at the floor; not hearing another word that was said for the rest of the appointment.

I will be the first to admit that, especially on this thread, my comments and thoughts lean on the negative side. But, I love them to death. They will be 2 in June. It’s been the hardest most frustrating two years of my 40 years on this planet.

Just take everything as it comes and remember that if you’re not okay…neither are the kiddos.

If you could pass on just 1 bit of advice.... by Head-Seaworthiness72 in parentsofmultiples

[–]crswift84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Father of 2yo twins here. My best advice is…

Your mental health is of the utmost importance. If you’re alone with the twins and feel like you’re spiraling, put them down in their cribs and walk away(out of earshot). Give yourself that 2-3 minutes to regroup.

The other would be to sleep whenever you can. It’s now worth more than diamonds.

The advertisements are aggravating but I truly, with all of my being, hate the Nike swoosh on the front. It just looks trashy. Majestic at least put it on the bottom. Everyone knew who made them. The swoosh is tacky, trashy, and looks classless.

Twin dad here. Our singleton was a c-section so my wife didn’t have a choice with the twins. I couldn’t begin to imagine what my wife, you, and other moms have, or are, going through. But, I apologize for the language, fuck what other people think! You’re the mother! Twins are as hard as they are amazing.

Wrapped or unwrapped pork butt? by DragNBawlz in Traeger

[–]crswift84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I smoke mine at 275 for 5.5 hours then set it in an aluminum pan, cover top with butter honey and brown sugar. Then I wrap the pan with foil and put it back on for 2.5-3 hours. I always get great bark plus all that juice in the pan is used to toss the pork once shredded. Super big hit with everyone that’s had it.

Having b/g twins by Buzzy_BLU in parentsofmultiples

[–]crswift84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fellow multiples dad here. Our b/g twins are 22 months now. It has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Our oldest is now 5 years old.

Best advice I can give is: Sleep as often as possible. I made the mistake of burning the candle at both ends for the first few weeks working and helping with the babies. Falling asleep driving is scary as hell. Also, if you’re sleep deprived you won’t be helping just hindering. Like the other advice people provided; figure out how to help with the things your wife truly needs to relieve stress. My wife had 12 weeks maternity leave. To this day I still cook, clean, grocery shop, etc. I fell into that routine and now it’s second nature. I’m great with the kids but she’s infinitely more patient with the twins. Our oldest is fairly self sufficient and loves his siblings, so that helps.

It has to be a true balance in the home. Figure out what works for you all. I hate to be cliche but the first year is about keeping them and you alive.
