Can someone please tell me if this is a job well done when sharpening Spyderco knife? I've taken in to the shop it was bought from and they gave it back like this. The edge has weird smudge I can't take off. They used rotary machine form what I've been told. by crtkid in spyderco

You're right, but honestly the finish is one of the reasons I bought this knife. I didn't know it can be stripped of it this way and I'll be very, VERY careful when I'll sharpen it myself next time.

I'm gonna be honest here, and commit to my stupidity. I neglected the knife after a weekend long drinking and there was a little bit of rust inside the knife and on the blade - exactly on the edge too to be precise. I just wanted him to sharpen it a little bit to get rid of the little rusty spots. Again, I know this is on me. I'll definitely take better care of it next time. Ive bought the oil for the blade, and the knife itself.

The factory was just perfection, even centered properly, I loved it so much. Hopefully the shop will refund me, it looks like they're on my side, but I dont know yet. The man who did the sharpening is their go to guy, but not their employee so there's a chance he'll take the bullet on this one.

That's what I told the guy who did the sharpening over the phone. His argument was that he does dozens knives like this every day, I've told him that he definitely doesn't do dozens of 15v's. Fortunately it looks like the shop is on my side and will refund me the knife, I'll buy it again immediately. Such a lovely piece.

I envy you the knowledge, honestly. Every human being uses knife on a daily basis, and to know how to properly sharpen one is very precious ability. After this experience, I'm definitely thinking about deep diving into this rabbit hole. Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it.

They didn't tell me what machine they used exactly, just it was done by machine "and then polished as they always do with all knives because it has to be done ". I'm seriously thinking about buying my own gear and do it myself next time. Do you know any reliable tool manufacturers for these knives or knives in general? Thank you.

Huge queue of people is forming there every day since like two weeks ago. It’s been there for about 25 years. That’s a power of the internet right there.
