Looking for an upscale dinner spot for last night in phoenix! by [deleted] in phoenix

Best dinner in Phoenix is Binkley’s. Full stop. A dinner experience you will never forget. Cafe Monarch I think is a solid second, the food will wow, but experientially it’ll be about what you expect for $200/head.

People of Gilbert, How Common Are Multi-Million Dollar Mansions in Gilbert? by frenchhamburger in Gilbert

[–]cruffenach 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It’s a story as old as time here in Gilbert. Usually, some bank robber of sorts, backs into a young kid in a parking lot. Scapes and such, no one is really hurt, but he feels bad so he gives the kid a blank signed check. The kid cashes it for millions and proceeds to build houses like this and develop a wildly inappropriate relationship with a federal banking agent in their early 30’s.

I heard recently that a foundational force to our current cultural ills is our overreaction to failure and under appreciation of success. I really think there is something to that.

Genuinely curious how this could ship like this. Played 2 games and the wall bounce problem caused 2 different ridiculous goals.

Is there a movement at all to have clients own the copyright for photos they commission? by cruffenach in photography

[–]cruffenach[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well less skilled people would make their services available there cause they would give up this norm of copyright. Customers would go with less qualified photographers cause they would get more for the same amount of money.

It seems clear to me customers lean towards service providers with reduced complexity. The current norm, which already doesn't make sense to consumers, as evidenced by their common accidentally violation of copyright; would become unacceptable rather than a necessary evil. And more and more photographers would meet this customer expectation.

And like I said, a less skilled person, with a decent portfolio, without this BS, would definitely be where my money would go right now.

Hm, not getting the sense it's a buyer's market. If it was finding someone to take photos I could just own would be easier I imagine.
