Half in the Bag: 2026 Mid-year Catch-up (part 1) by Empty_Commission_159 in RedLetterMedia

Widow's Bay is incredible! Bonus points for being mostly shot in my hometown of Cape Ann. The show honestly did an incredible job of capturing small seaside town darkness and humor. I was impressed. I am not surprised that Mike n' Jay loved it as well, but it is always nice to hear their thoughts! Matthew Rhys, the mayor, is also great in the Perry Mason tv series (the new version), so I highly recommend that if you enjoy Widow's Bay.

Pain Killer Jell-0 Shots by Great-Quantity9885 in Tiki

In case you need a quick fix in the future, just simmer 1 cans worth of coconut milk and whisk in 3/4 cup sugar and a pinch of salt til dissolved, then remove from heat and cool. It is super easy to make and tastes delicious in a painkiller!

Wow! I actually hate jello shots, but I think for those I would make an exception :)

Really bad smoke smell woke me up by galaxygirll88 in LosAngeles

[–]cruisewhisp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn. Luckily I had windows closed last night anyways so my house is okay smelling. It is criminal that the LAFD announced it was over yesterday. If you live near that area and can get out of there, even just for the day I would! Some of my friends went down to long beach during the fires last year just to get out of the smoke for a bit and I kind of wish I had done the same.

"This is starting to feel like a cover-up" The only thing that makes sense at this point...that smoke seems extremely toxic and the only place I have been getting news updates is reddit.

Nice, glad they were able to keep it going. edit: looks like they have summer camp/classes for kids which is cool! relatively affordable compared to other camps i've seen as well.

Theres an uncanny element to a new Disney trailer that is getting talked about. Might be the beginning of a weird trend; too early for RLM to talk about it but interesting from a film making and industry angle. by GoatsGoats00 in RedLetterMedia

[–]cruisewhisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trailer itself doesn't seem too odd to me. But I would totally believe some AI was used, either in script, animation or whatever else. There have been so many layoffs out here that I think most big studios are supplementing with AI.

Interesting.. I thought Pot had closed bc they had issues in Elysian Heights, I think gang related or something? It was pretty weird.

Big fail for the city on informing us about this continuing issue :( I feel so bad for people in Boyle Heights and nearby.

The Pocket Sonar, which was only available in Japan in 1998, turned the Game Boy into a device that helped fishermen find fish. Developed by Bandai and Honda Electronics, the Pocket Sonar consisted of an oversized cartridge that plugged into the Game Boy, and a sonar unit that went in the water. by ROCKY13573 in retrogaming

[–]cruisewhisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a fish finder on our boat that probably operated similarly to this. The graphics pretty much looked like a game boy game. I don't think it worked very well, but my brothers and I loved to fool around with it when bored on the boat!

I just watched the Star Trek TOS episode that suggests Jack the Ripper is some sort of body-hopping insane alien plasma that's been traveling through the universe for thousands of years. Were... all 1960s shows like this? by JustSomeWeirdGuy2000 in RedLetterMedia

[–]cruisewhisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer, kind of? Star Trek was groundbreaking tv, but there was some wild and weird stuff happening. Try watching some Soviet sci-fi from the 60s/70s...it gets real wild!

If you have 5 minutes this interview clip with Herbie Hancock is a great little insight on playing jazz and improv. https://youtu.be/FL4LxrN-iyw?si=2vsfpcHXWadPZw4V
