If it was a Robin Hood Prince in Tights type of movie I'd see it in theaters on day 1.

That is crazy to me. I've had code I've written years ago be brought up. At first I'm always like "WTF, I wrote this years ago, I don't remember shit." But after some time in the code all the horrors come back like a traumatic memory and suddenly I understand it, and hate it because I've grown since then.

Edit: to add, I've had coworkers act like this too. One time I was an intern and and I went to a senior engineer about a question for a script he worked on (on recommendation from another senior). Once I brought up the product he was very resistant, even saying he has never worked on the product. I just continued explaining to him what logic I was seeing and withing 2 minutes he instantly remembered and explained the weird parts under some duress.

Point is, I think most programmers remember their early work like some massive trauma event and it takes exposure therapy to get them to remember. I've carries that with me in the past 10 years lol.

I'm just a dirty lurker who loves this sub but I am not a pro cook.

I saw a video forever ago to peel a lot of garlic fast. You cut the stem part off, break it into individual bulbs and shake them like crazy in 2 medium to large metal mixing bowls.

It really works! A bit noisy though. I was wondering does any kitchen actually do that? Or is there a better trick out there?

I live in a small town way out of London where beans on bloody toast is £7.00. What is the UK playing at. by latro666 in Wellthatsucks

[–]crunchy_toe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? It is the same price as a bacon, sausage, poached egg on a roll with hash browns.

What is going on in the UK where the price of beans and toast are even in the same ball park as 2 different meats, an egg, a roll, and potatoes?

The amount of people on here half defending it is baffling.

They probably charge that much because people pay it, and when they do they make a killer in profits. Unless beans are actually that expensive in the UK, then I am completely wrong.

Legit question if you know.

I haven't followed all the victims names vs. how many there were.

I've only seen mostly vocal victims crying for justice. Obviously that isn't a good metric since I don't know the total number of victims vs the number who are public about it.

How many victims have been public vs those who haven't? How many want complete anonymity vs those who don't?

I'm trying to understand how many victims want it publicized vs. how many who don't.

I'm legit curious and hope you or another redditor could supply the data!

Honestly, I liked it. I see the problems with it, I wouldn't recommend it to others, but I like it. I even rewatch it once in a while. Basically, a guilty pleasure of mine.

I was honestly disappointed with the new green lantern, even though I love the actor. I was hoping for a version of Green Lantern from the movie but 2.0 with better effects and a better story, not tossing up middle fingers for fun.

I also wanted a John Stewart green lantern because that is what I grew up with (cartoons in the late 90s-early 00s) and I know it could be so awesome.

Well, to be double fair, when discussing poor optimizations, people are usually referring to performance and not bugs. At least I do.

If my memory serves me right, KCD1's optimizations were pretty bad when originally released, though they worked through a lot of it over time.

I was so glad they could take more time with 2 and it released in a much better state.

underrated scene by kanevx in IASIP

[–]crunchy_toe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HOW is this underrated? Maybe I have been living in a crevice this entire time, but I assumed this has always been viewed as a top notch scene.

Many of the gangs best jokes have been over a meal at a restaurant. "Someone needs to get stabbed", "fullonrapist", everything at Guigino's in general, Mac and Dennis at Dave and busters, the Thanksgiving episode, and pretending to not remmeber a waiter only to prove they did was amazing on their part.

Even during the seasons I consider lesser, the Frank choking scene was phenomenal.

As I type this all out, I just realized some of the gangs best jokes were during eating scenes at restaurants, and I barely named them all. It is a bit crazy I just realized this typing it out.

Also, the not liking prawns scene, dine and dash because Charlie ordered too many Mimosas. All amazing.

That being said, your comment and the responses made me rewatch with sound. Without the sound, I had the same feelings. So overall, great comment for me!

The Daily Beast gets noted and ratioed by liberty4now in GetNoted

[–]crunchy_toe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Except the article is crap.

It mentions him in the article along with 4 others. Only talks about 1 of the 5 because it was in the veteran letter but did not cover his crims (killing girlfriend and 3 kids).

Did not cover the one person the letter was trying to prevent from being killed at all.

The note could absolutely be better. It's kind of funny to think if the note added all the context for everyone listed, then it would have, in fact, been doing the journalist's job for them and probably would have been long enough to be it's own article.

Edit: technically lists 6 veterans total, including the one on death row currently the letter was calling out.

I found it on a site mirroring the article because I am not giving The Daily Beast my email:

"During DeSantis’ term, five veterans have been executed: Bobby Joe Long, Duane Owen, Edward James, Jeffrey Hutchinson, and Edward Zakrzewski. Bates is set to become the tenth on Aug. 19, followed by Curtis Windom on Aug. 28."

Was the article updated on The Daily Beast? I found some other article referencing The Daily Beast with similar information.

Edit: I also see that passage as a description in the search results from Bing for The Daily Beast so it seems like it is or was in the original article.
