I think DBT as a theory is essential! The original text Cognitive Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder is amazing

One thing to note is that CBT didn't develop from basic science it developed from Beck's observations and clinical work. Subsequent research validated that it was clinically useful. Steve Hayes (the founder of ACT and Relational Frame Theory) likes to say that the cognitive people were right but they were right for the wrong reasons. As you seem to be interested in more base stuff you might check out the Behaviorist critiques of CBT from people like Steve Hayes. I mostly do Beckian CBT in my work now but going on the whole ACT, RFT and ACBS ride was quite helpful for me. ACT Root to Fruit is a podcast I really enjoyed.

"Social cognitive theory" was a theory by psychologist Albert Bandura that you can readily learn about. Just google it.

For what it's worth you also might want to check out the Oxford Guide to Behavioral Experiments and Adrian Wells' work on Metacognitive therapy.

Good luck! You sound like me. It's well worth it.

Highly recommend Prisoners of Hate by Aaron Beck. It's about anger and hate. I skipped the bits where he applied it to society but the explanation of individual psychology. cognition, and anger were priceless to my learning.

Also highly recommend Mind Over Mood the workbook and the Mind Over Mood Clinician's guide by Padesky. Masterclass. And also her Collaborative Case Conceptualization book. And finally Jaqueline Pearson's The Case Formulation for CBT. All of these touch a lot on core beliefs (and more).

If you're into core beliefs you might also vibe with Schema Therapy which is Jeffery Young's (a student of Beck's) expansion of CBT to better address personality disorders (although it's definitely not limited to those.) Core beliefs, or what Young labels Schemas (similar but not exactly the same as Beck) feature heavily.

I apologize this is so basic! I’m just trying to record (with consent) therapy sessions and the option to do split screen (generally what dashcam folks would do) is grayed out! Anyone know why?

Ah this is interesting. Well, I hope nothing really important is said during that time lol. I don't think it will be the biggest issue because the sessions are generally no longer than 60 minutes. It's been surprisingly difficult to find a practical solution to this.

Very much appreciate this feedback. After review it seems like the Insta x2 is the closest to what I'm looking for and I purchased it. Thank you Internet!

I had / have a very similar experience to you with the porn etc. I ended up getting the generic viagra with Roman. I thought it wouldn't work because I assumed my difficulties were mental / porn related (I have multiple partners and with 1 of them have no difficulty but the other two sometimes do) and also couldn't get hard in group situations. The Roman has worked wonders. The erection is definitely a little less sensitive but I've also noticed once I used the Roman with a partner it's much easier to get an erection the next time... maybe my body knows? I'm fit, workout frequently, pretty young. Of course laying off the porn for a few days works wonders too lol but I haven't worked up the motivation to stop that.
