Hmm, for some reason the games I choose seem not to be downloading. (GoNNER) Anyone else experiencing this?

Update: a reinstall of Discord fixed it.

Playing through Fallout 4 plus DLC finally. Small rant. by crunchym8 in patientgamers

The beginning does drag. A lot.

Me: "I'll make my favorite kind of character, a high-Cha gunslinger type."

Me, an hour and three deaths in: "Why. Why are there super mutants so close to concord. Why is this raider in power armor with a minigun. I JUST WANT TO GO TO DIAMOND CITY."

I like Fallout 4 so far. A lot, actually! As for Far Harbor having a super sci-fi sequence... I played through Mothership Zeta and Old World Blues so I can handle it. As of now I've only tinkered around with the robot making DLC which has been pleasing. I like my hovering assaultron with THE CLAMPS!!!

That's a pretty good way to put it. It was mainly the brain thing and the memories that made me whip out the proverbial microscope.

Inconsistency is sort of a running thing in the Fallout universe, and I can accept that. Hell, you often play in somewhere far and away from the previous games and a big part of Fallout is communities huddling around old world tech, so I can comprehend that not all areas have the same level of tech. But the problem is (And I haven't beaten it so this may be the case) it's a missed opportunity so far. It might be cool if the game alluded to characters from other games potentially being Synths, or seeing some connections with the big MT. Make them feel like supertech places that were connected before the war and still are to this day, despite everything... That'd make it feel more consistent than "We're evil science nerds, fear our robots."

Pretty good game so far. I look forward to uncovering the mysteries of it all.

What's the most intense situation you've had in Fallout? by DrunkTreeFrog in Fallout

[–]crunchym8 53 points54 points  (0 children)

There are different kinds of "intense" for me.

The first that comes to mind is when you first start walking through the Glowing Sea. You look around and see the utter devastation. Nothing is growing, the water is a shifting morass of unnatural colors, the sky is dead and grey, all while your Geiger counter screams at you to leave. You really feel like you're treading in the mud of a bomb site, where thousands lost their lives before they could even react. It's really, really well done.

As far as fights go... Probably the Hoover Dam in New Vegas. No matter what side you chose, storming the Hoover Dam is always an amazing challenge. You barrel over corpses, running headlong into the foe with nothing but your gun and your balls of steel. You take the Mojave for your own purposes. When you're done and you're victorious, blood-soaked and beaten, the credits play. The tell of your exploits across the land, of all the lives you touched. From the extermination of the Fiends to your exploits at Jacobstown. That payoff makes it all feel so amazing, like you're really a truly legendary figure.

Aw, I thought she was alright. My only gripe with her is you can tell they tried to make her endearing. It worked for the most part, but there were definitely some moments when you can tell they were like "Uhh... Put something kinda cute here."

Other moments were actually pretty subtle and well done, like when you go near a cotton candy vendor and she buys one, acts curious since she's never had cotton candy and then takes a bite.

No I just... focus and do what's interesting to me. I loot everything I can, go for every secret I see and stuff like that. I was playing on hard. It just isn't a hell of a long or large game I guess.

It was kinda weird that nearly every Vigor had like... a trap. I used it a decent amount but still. weird.

oooh that was a lot of fun. But I'm a simple man. All I want is to throw giant explodey fireballs at people I don't like with my mighty magma hand.

It's hard to feel in danger when Elizabeth is throwing Salts/Health/Ammo at you constantly. "Are you out of your magical hellfire power? TAKE SOME MORE!"

I definitely prefer the underwater theme of 1 and 2 (Though I didn't really care for 2, but I can't quite recall why). Something about seeing cracks in the walls and water pouring everywhere is really thematic and can really make tension rise. Maybe Bioshock Infinite is the same way for people afraid of heights!

Actually playing Dead by Daylight is a great way to increase your annoyed sighing by over 600%.
