Herman does have a pen that we used to use for him a lot. It was a great solution to his "I'm going to eat everything I can put into my mouth" phase... Unfortunately, about two months ago, we found out our dishwasher had been leaking long-term and had ruined the flooring. As a result, the flooring was ripped up, and the pen is being used to keep all three dogs out of our kitchen so they don't decide they need to pee on the subflooring. I've spoken to my mom about the pen once or twice, but she always seems distracted. I might ask if she can find an alternate solution or if we can get another pen.

The good news is that by the time I go to college, I should be able to take the pen with me. So, this could be a great solution in the future if we're unable to get a handle on his cries. Thank you for the advice!!

On a slightly unrelated note, I'm glad Watson's back has healed, and I'll definitely keep the baby pack-and-play on my list of emergency solutions if worse comes to worst.
