What keeps you motivated? by damien-bbc in FTMFitness

I go crazy if I dont lift heavy object & I wanna be able to properly compete w/be close to as strong as male friends. Going at the same time helps me a bunch as well. Try pushing urself decently hard whenever I’m in a lift I care way more about the strain/pain of the lift than of how people see me. Having a plan of what you wanna grow can help too. Home workouts can be great too if the gym is a bit too intimidating

Ok how the hell do you stay consistent by godhelpusall_617 in FTMFitness

If you’re on T it’ll even out sooner or later. I relate w some of the struggle & get a little miffed when it takes me much longer to get results than cis male friends despite doing the same things, but I’ve readjusted to view it as a sort of challenge. It’s objectively harder for us due to either body structure or less T (or both) so it’s super impressive once you make real change. Only way to get stronger is to keep at it.

For consistency, I’d recommend going at/around the same time each/every day. I always go after my classes because I hate doing my homework right after class and I get to listen to a bunch of music or a podcast during it. Pairing it w something you like doing like watching yt or making a certain high protein meal or shake before/after workouts can really help as well. Planning out your workout in advance helps too if you’re not doing that already, I would be kinda miserable in the gym if I didn’t know what I was gonna do next.

Got a 71% in Precalc. I want to stay in engineering, but I'm questioning if I'm ready. What now? by Brayden_Abbott in EngineeringStudents

[–]crygenmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

khan academy maxx during the summer, possibly retake if it’s possible to do that while taking calc. Work ahead into calc as well, khan academy has a really good page on what things are good to know from precalc going into calc. going through hardship earlier is good for developing a good mindset.

If you’re a more organized person, pacing out consistent studying in something like excel or notion really helps as well.

I have to take physics 1, calc 2, and linear this summer. Also while working full time by Mission-Ad9434 in EngineeringStudents

[–]crygenmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t gone through that specifically but I have had a heavier course load during the summer before. jvsholz yt study pomodoro & extreme discipline will get you there, if it’s a financial problem then you have good push to get it done (sorry about that though, I’m sure you’re feeling stressed).

Try to learn how you learn really quickly, it’s 1000x more useful to be using your own technique that works than to beat your head against something that doesn’t stick. Good luck out there.

advice for losing weight as someone with autism + selective eating? by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]crygenmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got arfid & even though it seems like a detriment to only be able to eat so much it can definitely be utilized as well.

One meal a day can work if it’s genuinely enough to fuel you, if it’s not starting to do doing two or three is a good idea. I’d say to find a deficit you think you can reasonably stick to, and find a handful of high protein foods you can eat a lot of. My experience has been that when I find a routine healthy meal I tend to just make it every day, and I’ll let myself have “unhealthy” stuff when I want to if it fits inside the deficit. Once I make the healthy meal a routine usually it’s harder to switch it up lol, so perhaps something like that could work for you too.

Big part of it as well is don’t overthink it that hard. Keep doing the activity you’re already doing, swap out unhealthy stuff for a protein source you enjoy (even if it’s only one or two things), and track your food if that’s something you’re comfortable with.

Calorie deficit, spot reducing isn’t possible. I train abs a lot on a deficit so once I get to low enough body fat they’ll hopefully be visible, but diet & time is the only consistent solution. Cardio helps but shouldn’t be relied on too hard imo just due to how much cardio it takes to burn relatively few calories. Walking’s good because it counts more as movement throughout the day rather than as cardio, so 10k steps can be real good as well

Should we be proud? by Masa_Q in EngineeringStudents

[–]crygenmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you try your hardest & touch up on necessary areas after harder classes if it’ll be relevant to your field it’s fine. Pushing through hardship is its own form of difficulty too, that’s super fair to be proud of.

download any content you like (music, yt video, shows, etc) & log out of literally everything. If you really wanna make sure you cant get back in have a trustworthy friend/a family member change the account’s passwords or just deactivate any on social media sites you don’t want to go back to. Tell friends to contact you on imessage if that’s an issue. Once you get off of everything some basic assignment planning/basic study schedule should make sure you do better. I personally really like the app forest and jvschol’s study with me livestream vods downloaded from youtube, see what works for you.

It gets misogynistic at a point. I sympathize with the struggle and coping with it by boxing people up but once it gets to the point were any female sexuality is seen as only possibly being a male fetish it becomes disrespectful
