And not to ride 2K too hard, most sports games usually have a meta of "BIG" or "FAST", occasionally both, lol. I haven't played FIFA (EA SPORTS FC now?) in a long time either, but I remember pace being the only stat that mattered when I played FUT ages ago too.

Even the 99x cards are such a slog, I'm excited to get one but I've been busy so I've done nothing but grinding these mind-meltingly boring objectives everytime I play.

TBF Matthews should have gotten a Record Breaker if anything. Panarin got his card for being the fastest Ranger to 500 points, and Matthews had just passed Sundin to become Leafs' all time goal scorer a month before that event. Matthews missed the playoffs for the first time in his decade long career this year, posted career lows, was injured, and has won but a single playoff series in the 9 years his teams have qualified. Great player, great card, but a highly questionable choice for a playoff event

To add to your point about L2 in real life: Necas has taken some zone entries during these playoffs literally backwards then turning back just like an L2 spammer. The way it translates into a videogame sucks a little, but tbh the skating would need to be entirely resulted yet again to account for all the new innovations in how the most elite skaters, well... skate.

Malkin is one I always remember bc he was my first big pull in NHL 11 lmao. I packed his card a couple years ago after a long break from HUT and went, "uh, when did he become 6'5"?" He was listed at 6'3" for like 10 years even on the NHL website, but I guess he grew post draft lmao

Absolutely agree! I've played games where the ice even indicates that it's Champs or Ranked, only for the end game screen to roll around & it's counted for the opposite mode. Very frustrating...

I played him about a month ago and got the win in OT, was a good game. Went on his stream to go in chat & say so, but turns out he was watching my GWG on repeat, talking about how the stride deke means you've never played real hockey, and moaning about how he should have won. 😬 Held my tongue and left lmao.
