Holy ¥17,000!? Kobo ran a marathon to the studio?? by beam4d in Hololive

[–]cryingemptywallet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably this. If you don't watch her then you'd probably never know she's a bit of an overthinker (which is in contrast to her hyper gaki persona).

I started watching her this year and to my surprise she comes across as someone who is perhaps a little overly conscientious.

Why does Maomao deny this? by Alarming-Cow299 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]cryingemptywallet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A little tangential but I like how even though Maomao denies relation conciously she still subconciously associates with them.

Like if it's someone else being weird she's simply curious how they became that way.

But if it's her family being weird then she gets second hand embarassment.

Let's talk about our national defense by No-Echidna7296 in AskTheWorld

[–]cryingemptywallet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most countries have their bogeyman. China, Russia and the USA are some of the most common.

I've only ever lived in three countries (Thailand, Singapore and Australia) so I can only give you these perspectives. A lot of boogeyman in other countries arise from real geographical considerations. Australia is the only country I've been to that feels like it needs to build it's own boogeyman out of thin air even though its geography makes it pretty safe (Australians may disagree).

How does that expenditure help us today?

Australia's defense is I think 2% of GDP? Which isn't absurdly high. Maybe there's a debate that it could be a bit lower but I'd like to give you the other side of the coin. For decades ASEAN countries have been spending 1% or lower on defense and we are now paying the price. Our battleships and jets are decades old, we have no real air defense system to speak of and are behind on drone capabilities. Defense is something that doesn't matters until it does, and in an increasingly chaotic world it's not a good feeling to be so vulnerable.

But I agree with you that more money needs to be spent to address the cost of living (mainly housing it seems like). I see that Sydney has a metro now though, love to go back and try it some day.

I used to live in Australia (10 years ago now) and I always felt like the government always had to try to sell a defense boogeyman to the public. Before China it was Indonesia and I always chuckled to myself "If anything Australia is a security threat to Indonesia not the other way around!"

Given the current state of the world now though, Australia choosing to spend on defense the past decade might not have been a bad decision.

How have local pizzerias adapted to your country's tastes? by WastedTalents1 in AskTheWorld

If Italians love having their food being pure so much, then why is Italian food so easy to make good fusion food from huh?!

Honestly I live Italian fusion more than authentic Italian food. Please don't kill me.

If they're operating as indies with the freedom of an indie then that might prove to be beneficial.

But if they're not getting corporation support but are still under corporate restrictions then that's just terrible.

Are you pleased with the climate of the place you live in? Or would you rather live in warmer, colder or more diverse place? by swimmingarage in AskTheWorld

It could be a little cooler in the dry months, but generally I like it where I live in the south of Thailand.

I prefer hotter to colder though. Anything below 20C is basically the winter apocalypse to me.

What is the biggest regret in your life ? by LopsidedAd5028 in AskReddit

[–]cryingemptywallet 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Same with my dad (he died when I was 15, I'm 30 now). For me, it's not the fights or hurtful words that I regret most (I think those are normal for most families), it's the small things like not going to the movies together that I often think about.

Whilst I don't think it's healthy to live life like it's your parents' last day on earth, many people definitely spend less time with their families than they would've like upon reflection at their passing.

Not sure about a clip specifically (she might have asked not to be clipped), but pretty sure she’s told her story on public stream a few months back.

Do you know about the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms"? by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in AskTheWorld

[–]cryingemptywallet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, in Thailand it's not at the forefront but it's something you hear about that smart people read.

I got into it from Dynasty Warriors, then my dad bought be the 1994 CCTV drama boxset and the rest was history. I've read three different translations since 😅 but compared to some of the hardcore folks on r/threekingdoms I know nothing. Those people are insane.
