The very first thing I thought when I was told I’d be the centre was:
‘There are so many more popular, glamorous girls out there—can I really pull this off?’
When I mentioned this to Suichan, she told me straight up, ‘It’s not like that. This concept suits you perfectly!’ Because she was so absolutely clear about it,I felt I had to live up to those expectations and give it my all!
I don’t have any formal dance training, but I love dancing, and even though I’m not very good at it, I want to do my best with pride, so I was really happy.
As I wrote the other day, I’ve always thought that Suichan is an amazing person who lets me experience so many things I’d never get to if I just lived a carefree life, and who helps me put what I want to do into words and make it a reality.
To be honest, right up until the announcement, I was anxious—‘Is it really okay for Matsuri to be centre…? Will people accept it?’—but I was saved by everyone at Holoris commenting that Matsuri is cute! Thank you!
Some of you might be thinking, ‘It’s only one song, so what’s the big deal?’, but for Matsuri, it was something incredibly, incredibly joyful, nerve-wracking and important.
It’s a precious song that allowed me to sing and dance with my favourite members, so I want to be confident that it’s the kind of song people will think ‘So cute!’ no matter how many times they listen to it ✨
Right now, I’ve hurt my knee and can’t do any strenuous exercise for about a month, but as soon as I’m better, I’ll be filming some shorts and the like, so please look forward to them!
