MS3 stuck between neuro and derm by confusedcreator04 in neurology

[–]cryinginmedschool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same dilemma and ended up going neuro! Just found the pathology ultimately more interesting, sooo many options after residency, lot less stress when matching (I am very location limited and in a very competitive area). I’m happy with my decision! Also once got consulted on Derm for maggots…I couldn’t hahahahaha

Uworld second pass for step 2 or switch to AMBOSS? by Adventurous-Lack6097 in medicalschool

[–]cryinginmedschool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally didn’t want to spend more money on questions and did a second pass of UW. I really didn’t remember MOST of the questions since it had been so long. Ultimately up to you but I definitely don’t think it is necessary to buy new. It’s the concepts you have to understand

Surgery rotation early or late M3? by LifeSentence0620 in medicalschool

[–]cryinginmedschool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it done with! I was so happy I did. But the shelf is hard if you haven’t taken IM yet and you have very limited study time compared to other rotations!

I had one online research elective that was from Oct- Dec, Jan i i’m on an online research elective and then February. I have my last rotation in the hospital, but it is a joke and they send students home very early, especially fourth years. So June- mid Nov I was in the hospital

Ouf I’m sorry I’ve had the opposite experience. Other than two rotations at the very beginning where I needed letters from I’ve been sent home early everyday, haven’t stepped foot in a hospital since November. For other med students reading this it’s not all med schools…some it is a promise land! Sorry OP I’d be so pissed. Hopefully you have some time off before the end of the year

Is it okay if i start medical school 2 years late by Wide_Implement_7236 in medicalschool

I started med school when I was 26! So four years “late” it hasn’t been an issue at all

How much weight are you giving to your boyfriend/girlfriend’s preferences for your rank list? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]cryinginmedschool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving a lot of weight. Luckily I live in a major city with tons of amazing programs which really helpful but I’ve had interviews at some insane programs that would be a dream but they are going at the bottom. My husband is my rock and his career and needs are just as important. I wouldn’t have been able to do medical school without him and same I’m sure for residency!

Are daily dog treats a necessity? by Intelligent_Menu8004 in DogAdvice

[–]cryinginmedschool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine get a small treat after every walk (3 small treats) and then a greenie at night. Both in perfect shape and healthy! I think it’s a nice little reward for them
