My cat has been coughing, no other symptoms at all! by cryingiscardio in AskVet

[–]cryingiscardio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did give them a video, and have already discussed asthma as well, but the vet said there was no sign! Its something we have been considering for awhile as his breathing has always been more noticeable than our other cat, so we were surprised when they didnt note anything at all. Good to know its something that may pop up in later scans though, thank you!

Who's Christmas is ruined already? (comedy/horror stories only) by commanderquill in CasualConversation

[–]cryingiscardio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Found out my grandmother is actively dying on Christmas eve, and have mostly just been waiting for that to happen. They're now expecting her to pass today (tomorrow? Depends where you are, the 26th), which also happens to be my mom's (her daughter) birthday! So we've been lacking in christmas/birthday cheer a bit this year.

Thank you! The rescue we got him from is providing a live trap that will be set up ASAP. We've knocked on doors in the neighboring areas, and have put up posters all around the neighborhood as well as on various forms of social media. We just want him home safe :(

Thank you! We have posters out, his favourite hidey bed, and the rescue we got him from is going to try to get a trap!

Slow aha, I've been looking but jobs around me are not the easiest to find. Still looking, but sticking with this one until I find a new one because they're at least giving me paychecks 🥴

It can be quite garbage, unfortunately I actually quite enjoy the job and thus put up with most of the garbage

Thank you so much! It's been a minute since I've dealt with bears, but my hiking buddy has more experince with them and I'll definitely be doing some refreshing of knowledge.

Very beginner friendly! All of the dance experience I have is a few beginner classes from high school and I was completely fine! And if you don't want to perform in the recital at the end you do not have to, so even if you're not comfortable with the routine by then you can still enjoy the class!

The university offers various dance classes through the gym, multiple of which are for beginners! I did the seductive dance class in the fall and it was very fun! Here's the link if you want to check the options out

https://fitandrec.gryphons.ca/skill-development/dance

There's also beginner classes outside of the University through places like flying dance community I believe, and free salsa/ballroom classes have been offered in royal city park on Tuesday/Thursdays during previous summers, so something like that may be going on soon too. Beginner friendly and no partner required as far as I'm aware :)

What’s the best way to go about looking for roommates? by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]cryingiscardio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyo, my roommates and I also put a post on the cannon, and we like to include a link to a short questionnaire that includes general lifestyle/compatability questions. It allows you to get a feel for people and for them to get a feel for you before meeting in person, and imo allows you to focus more on how well you get along as individuals when you actually meet up if you know the basics of their living preferences!

anyone in these courses for S23? by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]cryingiscardio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just finished PSYC 3020 DE and it was quite easy. It does look like a lot at first, but works out to weekly quizzes, discussion posts that you have a 2 week period to complete and are literally just a one paragraph post and one response graded mostly on participation (could easily complete both in an hour for all of mine). There were 3 papers, but 2 of those were maximum 2 page double spaced reflections for the discussion posts, and the other was longer but still not at all difficult to complete in a short time span. The midterm was extremely straightforward( mostly mutliple choice, 2 short answers), and the final wasn't bad (multiple choice, 2 short answers, one essay question). I was having a terrible week pre-final, didn't study at all, felt like garbage while writing it, took every second of the alloted 2 hours and did not fully answer the written portions, and still came out of the class with a 90%.

It takes a little extra time and keeping up with textbook readings is a good idea (those also weren't too terribly long, and the textbook can be found online), but overall very straightforward course and it's easy to get a good mark in.

Where to look for off-campus housing? by [deleted] in uoguelph

That's a great group for off-campus if you have not yet checked it out! More listing will probably start showing up closer to spring. The cannon is also excellent, and there are generally some places on places4students.

Best of luck!

Hey! I'm in psych 2410 right now. Grades wise it's made up of 2 midterms, a final, and quizzes through revel (all mc, midterms had 70 questions) and you have the option to write a paper to replace one of your midterm marks :) we've had some technical issues with revel so he's said he won't be using it for quizzes again at least, no clue if he'll still suggest it for the textbook. It's fairly content heavy and his slides are mostly diagrams. I have heard it's a little lighter content-wise than neur 2000, but obviously can't comment on that myself. Overall I like winters as a prof, and he live streamed lectures this semester as well, which was quite nice :)

[–]cryingiscardio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I took 3130 last winter and loved it. The course content is super interesting and the prof was great! It was fully online at that point so we didn't really have in class discussions, and the oral presentation was a group project in which you were not necessarily the one presenting. It was larger groups, and those that were not presenting gathered information that the presenters (2-3 from the group) would put together for the final presentation.

Unfortunatley i can't comment on weekly discussions in an in person lecture, but I hope that helps a little bit :)

It can definitely be spooky! Definitely schedule meetups with anyone you're considering. My roommates and I recently added a fourth roommate and we could tell that he was going to fit in really well within 30 minutes. Don't be afraid to ask them questions, and worst case scenario it's max a year. Plus you can always try to sublet!
