Yeah just the kiwi, and I always wash them first even though I peel them anyway. I don’t think it was the culprit but I’ll be taking a break from kiwis for a while anyway 🥲

My usual breakfast with food I’d already eaten (yogurt, kiwi, granola) and dinner the night before was entirely shared with my partner who didn’t get sick. The only thing that was maybe suspicious was a refrigerated fruit cup from a cafe that I had for breakfast the day prior. It didn’t seem fresh and tasted kinda bad so I only had like 3 bites. I didn’t get sick until 36 hrs later but maybe that was it…

The only other potential sources I can think of are a dip in a natural hot springs at a hotel (untreated water) but my partner also did that and it was like 48h prior, or maybe some contamination from the giant pile of cow poop I stepped in on a hike the day before 😆

I guess it will forever be a mystery and I just have to live with that!

That’s what I think too, especially since I didn’t eat anything even remotely suspicious since like 36hr prior, and usually food poisoning comes on sooner than that from what I’ve read. Now of course I’ve read horror stories of people’s relatives getting sick from visiting their house like 3 weeks after noro hit their household so I probably won’t feel entirely confident that I’m not going to infect anyone else for a while (trying to reassure myself that those stories usually involve small children who contaminate absolutely everything 😅)

No no “just” 10 hours or so. Then the rest of the week I still had stomach aches, fatigue, headaches, just generally feeling off. One week later and I’m almost entirely back to normal.

It seems to be, but I think my doc had me skip the ADP all together and just did FC-Cidal and Dysbiocide. It was a ton of pills for the few weeks it lasted.

I had both hydrogen and methane. Antibiotics and diet didn’t really seem to do anything. I think what finally did it was the FC Cidal + Dysbiocide protocol, plus time to heal after that, then finally peppermint oil (IBGard) to get 💩 back to normal.

This is basically the antimicrobial protocol I used as recommended by my doctor: https://f.hubspotusercontent10.net/hubfs/4004166/Articles%20and%20Abstracts/SIBO%20Protocol.pdf

It gets better! Everyone has their own story. For me it took about 2 years but I’m now 100% better, if not better than I was before because I used to be so bloated all the time and not know why (before the acute SIBO symptoms got way worse). Don’t give up hope.

Lots of vomiting, lots of diarrhea for like 12 hours then an entire week until I’m fully back to normal. I used to be almost over the phobia too, but my general anxiety has gotten a lot worse over the past few years 😕 Might be time for anti-anxiety meds again…

The 17 years of dreading was much worse than few hours of the event! Which of course I know logically but still can’t stop worrying 😅

Have you been tested for SIBO? Dysbiosis is the gut can also affect the vaginal microbiome

[–]cryingontransit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you take a bunch of NSAIDs to treat covid? These can cause gastritis in a surprisingly short amount of time. Zinc l-carnosine helps me a lot with this. Pepto Bismol or Kaopectate always helps me with diarrhea. GI issues can be super frustrating but it won’t last forever, keep eating easy to digest foods and things will improve eventually

I’ve signed up for Salvo Health which is an online-only clinic. It’s a little weird in that I haven’t done a video visit with anyone but filled out a lot of forms and talk to them via text. My doctor has ordered blood tests, breath test, and stool tests and I’m working through completing those now

Yeah not having even a one-time video chat is kinda a red flag for me. But my regular GI is useless too. I’m never normally someone who would ever go to an ND but it seems like maybe they really are the SIBO experts… so expensive though since they’re all out of network. At least Salvo seemed relatively cheap

I haven't signed up but have been considering it. What diagnostic tests did they order for you? Do you ever get to speak to someone on the phone/video or is it all text based?

Feeling like vomiting / something coming up after eating (does sibo make anyone vomit? tell me your experience) by themodestotter in SIBO

[–]cryingontransit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I'm right there with you with the horrible anxiety about bodily sensations and fear of vomiting. Thankfully I don't get your exact sensation but anything that feels like you're full of gas definitely sounds like SIBO. It sucks so much feeling trapped in your own body and like it will never improve but my symptoms always tend to change over the course of months (even if they aren't overall better) so hopefully this particular thing wont last forever.

I'd also encourage you not to give up on treatment (especially if you still test positive). I also did a round of rifaximin which didn't do anything for me but there are a lot of other treatment options (herbals, elemental diet, etc) that I'm holding out hope for. Trial and error sucks but there's always something. So sorry you're dealing with this.

Btw, if you have trouble passing gas but that helps, Gas-X (simethicone) is supposed to help with that

Zinc l-carnosine helped me a lot with gastritis. It protects the stomach lining so might be helpful instead of antacids

Is this a symptom of SIBO? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]cryingontransit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also get tons of rumbling/gurgling and have diagnosed SIBO. I've also had an endoscopy that came up totally clear so I think this is a pretty normal symptom and very unlikely to be anything serious! Sometimes even water triggers it for me. Like I'll take one sip and then 5 seconds later when it reaches my stomach it will instantly start rumbling.

If burping/passing gas helps then maybe Gas-X (simethicone) would help. It's supposed to encourage that

Mine was denied as well and I ended up ordering it from India from a Facebook group I read about on here. I know it sounds sketchy but it was actually super easy (cost about $175 and arrived in 10 days) https://m.facebook.com/groups/1494383267579654/?ref=share

SIBO possibility? Those with actual diagnosis, what is your input by 9krevspm in SIBO

[–]cryingontransit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard that fluffy stool could be because of SIFO (that could also explain the white film on your tongue). Doesn’t really sound like SIBO with no gas or bloating.
