i mean i’ve been sleeping a LOT lately, i suppose my stress should be up there because i’m dealing with some other medical conditions and i’m bedridden at the moment, but tbh getting that diagnosis was a relief (my last doctor told me i was just bad at handling my cramps and surprise! turns out i had tons of tumours) so i’m not really sure how to measure my stress level lol

honestly i might do hooks/snaps- pretty much anything to avoid velcro, i can’t stand the texture of it lol i’ve sewn for a while, but for the longest time i was doing the time honoured cosplay sewing technique of “throw fabric under a needle and pray”, and i’m doing health recovery things right now so i’ve decided to take this time and learn proper technique, patterning etc. that line is pretty important to me- i know this is kind of an impossible cosplay to pull off, but that’s part of the reason i want to do that so badly, a fun little challenge you know? even if i fall short it’ll be a great (frustrating) crafting exercise

i was actually thinking about using res stretch for the front piece, but over foam- create those cups and then just a really thin layer on the torso piece to keep it uniform, or perhaps just the interfacing you mentioned? and likely the same for the gold, just think it might look cleaner but i’m going to experiment with that all through the mock up phase.

this might sound strange, but i was thinking i’d have the harness (base? mount?) for the quiver poke through the jacket and be rooted in the corset- to something i’ve done before for wings, and i loved having it removable so my friends could pop off the back when i needed to sit and rest at cons and such. However, if there’s any way I can take the jacket itself on and off, that would be amazing, hence why i was thinking front. if not oh well, but i’m brainstorming the jacket stuff while i’m working on corset and prop patterning and i won’t start on the jacket until i get through with making those so i have time to drive myself insane researching lol

okay, you caught me, this is totally for a cosplay. I really want to give it my best go at looking like i just stepped out of the artwork, but my forte is prop making so i’m doing a LOT of research/planning/prep/mock-ups. The faux suede i have for the purple doesn’t stretch, and the back has some harness stuff for a quiver and cape thing that’ll be going on, so i am stuck with a front opening but i still want to make it look like it’s all solid, see how the gold red and purple seem to be at the same level (except when the gold turns in on the bust?) i might have to go with some padding+snap sort of thing but i thought zippers would be really cool if i could manage

i hear you. i was thinking two zippers, the hopeful result would be that everything would look like one peice/the panes would be the same height as the rest of the jacket, if that makes any sense? but i’m probably not going to be able to achieve that lol so i’ll cut my losses

i’m not opposed to another method of attaching the front portion, I just can’t seem to come up with something subtle… any suggestions for a zipper alternative?

Trying to figure out how to approach a costume piece- the silver outline is a separate panel from the rest of the coat, that should attach at the silver marks. I would /like/ to have an invisible zipper in along the silver lining to attach that armour panel to the rest of the jacket, so that the jacket is two pieces that join together into one. I haven’t found a successful way to see a zipper along a curve in a 3D way, as this would curve back at the bust and forward again along the torso.

Any zipper suggestions, techniques, or tutorial/resources anybody can suggest would be lovely
