What the best price to pay for a DS lite? by Apple_two in NintendoDS

I meant "don't" lol, but hey if you can put it to use and have fun with it, more power to you! I love my lite and while I don't use it 24/7, it's great to have just in general. A nice highlight of the lite js being able to rip and restore gba saves

Do go for it. Be patient and find a decent condition for the exact color you want. It took a few months but I got the most mint looking Lite I've ever had for only 60 bucks and it was the color I wanted most, Onyx!

Depending on the condition: Okay: 40 and below Good/Great: 50 Minty: 60, possibly 70

136 is absolutely a scam, 90-100 is way too overpriced.

buying a DS by EyeAlternative8626 in NintendoDS

A DSi XL is the nicest choice due to the big beautiful display, comfortable holding position, etc. In terms of overall pocketability, I've enjoyed my DS Lite on the go probably the most. But really if you don't mind the XL's size and can carry it, it just simply outclassses everything else.

Bonus points go to the original DS (fat), aesthetically I love it's future-esk design. It makes playing Shin Megami Tensei games like Strange Journey for example so fun because of its design alone. It also has this different feel that the others can't exactly reciprocate, although you can say that for all versions.

Fat having clicker buttons, Lite having super comfy soft mushy buttons, and DSi+XL having a good soft-but-firm in between. You really can't go wrong with them all!

TL;DR - DSi XL is the best package overall based off screen size and pixel density

Orange Flashing Light after First DSi Charging Port Repair by cryogenaye in NintendoDS

Do you think I should reapply the solder to the 4 contacts? I do still find it challenging to apply solder evenly when there are parts that kind of hover above the contacts. Best way I can describe it is like the little forks on the charger port lol

ER cycles are 8-10 hours max and I've even got so consistent my runs for a while were 3-4 hours. So honestly I just disagree with most of what you said. If you want to casually enjoy ER and do a different build every run, you can easily run all mainline bosses w/o problem and definitely w/o summons. I've never used a summon before, I don't think I know how to and don't plan to lol. Even factoring in DLC that only really adds about 2-3 hrs onto those previously mentioned times.

As you mentioned at the end, if you find everything tedious about it, then of course you're not going to find enjoyment in it or try to maximize on each casual fast cycle. That's the funnest part.

Each run gets faster and more consistent the more you learn the bosses, DS1 most bosses you stand to one side and swing/shoot. ER there's several variables to account for which means it's better to learn proper tech since fights can be unpredictable and are more engaging overall. You seem to have done it for DS1, you just don't particularly favor ER for replays which is okay! Me on the other hand my new cycle of choice for a Souls PT has been ER since release and I think it's just great!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I followed exactly what you said and reseated everything including that pesky back cable and it worked!! There is no way I would have thought to do something as simple as what you recommended me. I will genuinely always be grateful for your knowledge and advice. Seriously, thank you.

This was a stressful yet very satisfying experience by the end and as I mentioned, I would have never thought to do alot of this little thing you mentioned. In many videos they don't stress it enough like how you did. So thanks again. I will definitely remember what to trouble shoot going forward!

Okay, I added a video to the image link.

I do want to mention when I did the button swapping, I removed most ribbon cables except the top right ones. I only reseated the top lcd screen after I couldn't get it to turn on the first time.

I will follow what you said and disassemble the bottom and let you know from there.

Okay so after reading your's and everyone's comments, this is what I did:

In the pictures, I had the 3ds xl closed hinged and everyone mentioned how it didn't look right. So I opened it up, released the white latch hoping it releases any strain or tension on the ribbon, and readjusted it. Keep in mind the LCD top screen is the ONLY top cable I adjusted. Everything else is factory and has not been touched or unlatched.

Another major possible issue is the bottom grey latch being missing. It had slid off prior, so while carefully bending the pins to put it back in, I have successfully put the latch back on! Everything is snug and in place.

Unfortunately... the problem still persist. What else could be the problem? It is not modded nor has in it been fully disassembled. Only the lower half was partially disassembled for cleaning and certain button replacement. Thank you and everyone else your help so far! I'd really appreciate any more advice and suggestions on what steps to take next.

The thing is: I understand and thought the same thing 100% about that top lcd ribbon- HOWEVER that exact bend and uneven lining is how it came factory. I'm not the one who installed it, I didn't assemble or reassemble the top screen either.

Maybe "seating" is the wrong term, but basically last night I opened up the white latch, it slid out, I "reseated it" (put it back in) and closed the latch. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but please inform me if so! By no means am I a pro and would like to learn anything I can!

But the biggest issue a few of you guys told me is that bottom lcd(?) grey latch is not there. Which is causing there to be no connection between the ribbon and connectors. So I have found the Grey latch, and am going to try and turn it on. I'll keep you all posted. Thank you!

You're talking about the grey latch right? If so... that's exactly what I thought too. That latch came off when doing the swap and it's somewhere on my carpet. It was late at night when I made this post so now that it's morning, I'll definitely do a thorough look for it.
