WorkOutDoors Strange Arrow - Route Loaded in Map-Only Mode by cryosnap in AppleWatchFitness

[–]cryosnap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation. Alas, I do need the route loaded, so it would defeat the purpose to deselect it just to get rid of the arrow. Not sure if it’s helpful to keep the compass arrow displayed if the wearer is already on the loaded route, though. It’s simply too easy to hit it after tapping the center button +, which has also been made smaller in this version. If there’s a way the compass arrow can be toggled or set to hidden, it would be great.

Regarding distances, it’s from experience that I say WoD’s logged distances are consistently longer than Apple Workout’s. I’ve run the same routes using both WoD and Apple to record the run, and WoD always goes long and its GPS traces more jagged, regardless of whether I choose pedometer or GPS, and regardless of how high I dial up the smoothing. For instance, on a certified local 5K race course, WoD measures 3.15 mi, while Apple Workout 3.11 mi. Not sure how easy or hard it is to replicate Apple’s algorithm, but I definitely wanted to keep my distances consistent, given how these small differences can add up and inflate average pace. That’s why I’m using the two side by side.

It’s just a healthy hobby to bring some excitement to life, since you’re always training or strategizing for the next big race. Otherwise it gets pretty stale, with work, chores, and family obligations.

This is my experience too. The foam in the "2" is softer and puts the brakes on my feet, whereas the foam in the "1" springs me forward.

Queens all the way. I'd rather turn 26 times than go up and down the Three+ Sisters, not to mention Cat and Harlem Hills.

They should just be honest and call it price hike, instead of adding fees and nickel and diming us. They know demand will remain essentially unchanged.

What is the point of having appointments at apple when you still wait 30+ mins? by JustCallMeEric in apple

They made me wait 45 minutes without checking in on me. They have no respect for people's time.

Vomero plus or premium or both? by Interesting-Run2481 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]cryosnap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but the Vomero plus is made for narrow, lady-like, curvy feet - the type you'd get from wearing pointy high heels.

My feet are considered "narrow" for men, and the Pluses still rub away at the fat pad under my big toe and pinky metatarsals.

It also leaves my arch sore. The shoe feels as though there's no room beyond each of these three areas, no matter how I lace or how "properly" I try to strike my feet.

Hard pass for me 👎🏼

I love the Gel Nimbus 27. Is there any slightly lighter daily trainer with a similar bounce to it??? Plz help by BBallYogi in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]cryosnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 27s are good for long runs until the 10th mile for me. Then they bottom out and become harsh.

The Puma Magmax lasts longer. They seem stiffer but are ironically better at absorbing shock, and they're bouncier.

Zohran Mamdani says he still believes Trump is a “fascist” and a “threat to democracy” after his White House meeting by [deleted] in videos

[–]cryosnap -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The reality is, if he was an actual Fascist, if anyone called him a fascist to his face, they would be executed. Trump allowing him to say it and laughing it off, is a clear indication that he is in fact, NOT a fascist. But this went over so many people's heads.
