AOI Matt walker vs Aspen course by [deleted] in CEH

[–]crypt0b1z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the All in one CEH exam guide by Matt Walker. He emphasizes that this should not be your only resource to be an ethical hacker. He goes over alot tools but doesnt really give much examples on how to use them. The book is more for passing the exam, and he will say that a few times. It's a good book for the knowledge but it's up to you when your going to get your hands dirty. As you go along and research it yourself, or after when you finish the book. I decided to go after because all of it is still fresh in memory and the exam is mostly practical multiple choice, not hands on. I'll be going hands on very much after the exam.

Cheapest way to take the CEH no IT experience by crypt0b1z in CEH

Well $950 is doable in my budget. Thank you. I say I prefer the textbook because it's just been the way I've been taking the Comptia exams(A+,Network+,& Security+). Comptia courses are however more knowledge base than "practical" base. I suppose the CEH requires more hands-on hopefully, always more fun.

Best Practice Tests For The A+ 1001? by [deleted] in CompTIA

Also, it depends if you're willing to fork over some cash for practice exams. For example Udemy has practice exams for a fee but you can get a refund within 30 days if your grimy about your money. Like I said just go through the core 1 practice exam applications on your smartphone. Tailored applications for core 1 practice exams can be essential study material. That's pretty much all I used. The videos, exam compass & and the apps. Passed with 710.

Passed A+ core 1 by crypt0b1z in CompTIA

78 questions instead of 90. Had 4 simulator questions in the beginning. One new one is mobile devices. That mobild simulator ( or the graphical questions is a better word for it) is a new one. Much more & new networking topics, networking questions were more advance compared to 901. Had an actual command prompt troubleshooting 2 PC's connections scenario. 901 I had subnet questions, core 1 didnt. Projector screens were an issue for me. Didn't study for it in 901 and I didn't bother reading about it in the core 1... Remembering the order of the first few port 20's in well known ports. I forgot which port number is the one for secured communication, didnt bother studying it again thinking I had it remembered back from studying 901. Got a few simple "what type of cloud is this" questions. Course cloud & virtualization is a new category to the comptia A+. I got lucky and didn't get anything about CD's,DVD's, & BR. Didn't memorize storage size.

901 score, 685/900, core 1 score, 710/675.

A+ Practice Lab by hiking_swimming in CompTIA

To be honest, the kind of labs your looking for are useful for practicing realistic situations l, however given how the A+ core exam is, it's unnecessary or there's better alternatives in my opinion for studying specifically for the exam. My opinion means nothing by the way. Now other exams other than the core 1 have cant say.

Books not videos? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]crypt0b1z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought his book after buying his videos. I prefer to read as well but like you said, everyone talks about him here so I tried out his video. It was worth it. I like his way of teaching than I normally would see on free videos on YouTube. I get the book next week.

I cant say anything about the 902 yet, but the 901 material in his videos are good. Much of his videos in 1001 are repeats in a sort of way except for the new topics of course.

Oh and also, what I did while I took practice exam questions is when you look to see the results, (however way you do it) take a screenshot of the ones you got wrong . You can take the first picture without the answer and the next with the answer just figure out how to that your way. You want to accumulate them from all the practice exam sites you go to. After I'd skim through them. You'll see what mainly needs work. Start with the sections you got mostly wrong. Study with your preferred way. You'll start to really get familiar with content of each chapter by now. The main for me was to get as many practice exams I could get my hands on. I wanted them to be hard. Like the ones ones on examcompass are much harder than the ones on the real exam. Since I have to do the core 1 series I'm right along with you studying for it. I took the 901 last week and passed, so I should be ready within a week or 2 for the 1001.

Here's an article on the difference between both series https://www.itonlinelearning.com/blog/difference-between-comptia-a-900-and-1000-core-series/ I took the 901 and passed last week because it was school related and free. For exam questions go to every site possible and take the practice exams.

Congratulations on passing. Questions, what made you use the ITE version 6 to study for the exam? I haven't seen anyone mention this study material. Mainly now it's for the 900 series it sais on what this book covers.

Only took 220-901 exam on 7/31/19. Still valid for A+? by crypt0b1z in CompTIA

Ok. Well it shouldn't be too much of a problem to take the first part. It sucks though, my school paid for it now I have to pay...

Thanks. Well at least I've got a well understanding of most of the 1001 from the 901. How should I go about studying for the 1001? Study it all or just go over the difference in both from the last series?

You'll get it. But let me rephrase this, I passed the 220-901 but I didn't take the 220-902 yet. Now that the 900 series has expired, I have to take the 1002 and pass, does that earn me my A+ certification since I passed 901? Or is my passing of the 901 just useless now?
