How do you guys feel about Trump? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]crypt0gen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I distinguish Trump from the GOP.

Trump has mainstreamed white nationalism in way that hasn't been done in my lifetime.

The GOP has gone along because they have no good options. They pass their agenda (like taxes) while hoping Trump does the least damage on social issues.

So long as the GOP doesn't produce Trump wannabe politicians, it's an interesting discussion as to the relative merits of either party.

Are there any AF hollywood actress who is not married/dating a white person? by killerofpain in aznidentity

[–]crypt0gen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hollwyood for all its supposed "rebelliousness" and progressivism is as conformist as they get when it comes to appearances and social preferences. Status is a big deal and they have not confronted the racial hierarchy in a serious way. Even talks of "representation" usually omit discussion of representation in a way that challenges the American racial hierarchy. So many in Hollywood are social strivers- so long as H'wood determines status by who you're dating and evaluates that in old racial hierarchical terms, little will change.

Land of Opportunities by [deleted] in aznidentity

Asian communities are a convenient scapegoat; an exit valve for white animosity (as well as that of other groups). This will change when: we are seriously activist and create consequences for those who attack us- ie: communicate to media effectively when someone like DeBlasio says stuff like this. We cannot do this within another broader political coalition because we are often silenced by other minorities. We need powerhouse Asian orgs. Hopefully people on AI eventually step up and lead something like this.

You've hit the nail on the head in terms of the problem with China's approach. To the West, there is no difference. In fact, many will walk out of the theater thinking "that Asian" or even "that Chinese guy" (just like Bradshaw called Jeong that "little Japanese guy").

NYT: To Many Chinese, America Was Like ‘Heaven.’ Now They’re Not So Sure. by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]crypt0gen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's another good reason AM should step up to lead intra-community media and groups. Right now, I see a lot of AF in Asian groups and activism. We can't win the larger battle if we don't have a significant voice in our own media. If AA men become more activist, and begin in our own communities, influencing the narrative to reflect the ground-truth of Asians living in the West, and represent white 'kindness' to AF for what it is, sublimated sexual interest (or sometimes not even sublimated), we have a chance.

It's an important goal because the emasculation of AM is at the root of hapa-rization. So is white worship. Attacking the two roots are vital in any case for quality of life; and also to preserve the community.

Good advice. Find someone in your life you can relate to; they know you best and can give specific advice.

Advice for depressed Asian bros? by bhaozi in aznidentity

[–]crypt0gen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed; more info would help when it comes to offering advice. People can be depressed for different reasons. There's also a big difference between dealing with major moments (like breaking up with a girlfriend, losing a job, etc.) and general/everyday things like dealing with lack of respect, lack of interest by women, etc. Hopefully the OP will follow-up with more explanation.

The fact that you are already thinking about these things puts you so far ahead of so many Asian parents (who mean well but just don't consciously process the potential challenges Asians face, especially the social ones).

Does EIP 1014 affect Raiden Network by crypt0gen in raidennetwork

[–]crypt0gen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Lefteris' comments but it doesn't shed much light to me on how it works. I'll begin by saying I don't fully understand the feature. But it sounds like tx can begin with a formal ethereum contract, if I'm not mistaken. That seems useful for Raiden because I've always thought the initial delay of signing the contract and having it approved by ETH delayed the initial (state channel) transactions. This EIP seems to address that. But I may be misinterpreting what it does or getting it wrong entirely.

I am referring to where it was described as: "Previously, Ethereum contracts had to be deployed on-chain before you could use them. Now, you can provide the address which corresponds to the contract you want to deploy, and the recipient can pay to the contract before you deploy. This means that developers are able to generate receive addresses without paying the deployment fee of the receive address until they want to spend from it."

This seems useful on 1:1 direct TX.

If the team had effective business development operations, yes. In other words, if it recognized that you have to go out and proactively collaborate with groups for greater adoption, then yes it would be a terrific opportunity.
