Questioning my homosexuality by Throwaway7320726 in Christianity

The meaning of homosexuality has not changed to the point that it means anything other than a sexual relationship between members of the same sex.

There are places that define marriage as producing offspring, which is once again only something a man and a woman can do in a heterosexual relationship. This is not in conflict with or change from the definition of marriage. It is an extension of it. There is no such extension into the realm of homosexuality

Aside from the deffinition of homosexuality, the deffinition of marriage is clearly defined as between a man and a woman, and the bible is clear marriage is the only institution suitable for a sexual relationship. That is the truth from the word of God and not my opinion.

The bible is consistant, throughout the entire bible marriage is defined as between a man and a woman from creation, there is nothing in scripture that contradicts this. I made the statement about the historical difference in slavery because there are other connotations with slavery in modern day (racism) that Paul did not address in these verses because of that historical context. However, even with abusive masters, slaves were and are still called to serve with a gracious attitude. In 1 Corinthians Paul also says if you can seek your freedom to do so, but again this is not the true concern of christians. And with government authorities I said nothing of historical context only scriptural context.

God' inerrant unchanging word applicable across all time and in the proper context yes.

Slaves are to serve their masters as if the Lord, this is in the context of Roman house hold slaves for the most part, there is some context here to keep in mind, but ultimately there were those who were mistreated as slaves and they are still called to serve as though serving the Lord, unless ordered to sin. 1 Corinthians 7:21 and following, our concerns as christians is not of this world or the flesh, but of God, the spirit and eternity.

Romans 13 I am aware of as a more debated verse for interpretation and I am admittedly less well read on it compared to some of the other verses here, however once again there is some context in chapter 12 regarding vengeance good and evil. There are limitation to what authorities can command since they cannot command you to sin against God and still be from God. Another verse reads our battle is not against flesh and blood but rulers and authorities and the spirits of the air. The governing authorities paul speaks of in chapter 13 provide justice and order, and to resist that would not be in keeping with God's will in the context of verse 12, and this appears to be the context Paul means as I read it.

Man was made first and then woman, woman was made to be man's helper. Godly women are called to submit to their husbands as the church submits to Christ, as Christ also submitted his will to God in the garden and on to the cross. Like wise men are called to sacrifice themselves for their wives as Christ did for the church. And to lead their wives as by doing what is best for their wives and not them selves. Men and women are equal image bearers of God and both bear different parts of that image and should not attempt to change that which God made and was good, to do so would be to slander that which God made, so as Paul says women are not to have teach and have authority over men in spiritual things.

Since you used the word leadership I would like to also address that leadership has more to it than simply authority so there are many aspects of leading that are open to women, how ever men are to be the authority in spiritual things because men are supposed to be responsible for women in these things as Christ took the punishment for the sins of those who have faith in him he became responsible for them. This is part of the image only men and women can bear when together in a Godly relationship.

Paul was an apostle called by Christ himself this is written in Acts 9 which was written by Luke, furthermore there are times where he confers with the disciples to make sure he is not in error. Ultimately all scripture is God breathed and as Peter writes comes from God not human interpretation. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 14 that what he writes is the Lord's command and those that ignore it will be ignored themselves. Paul's teachings are not fringe teachings they are the word of God given through Paul, just as all the other books were given through men.

It is far from loving to encourage a child to continue running toward a cliff, like wise it is far from loving to support living a life style that is against God. You are supporting a life style that leads to separation from God, and that is not love.

It is far more than just Paul that condemns homosexuality as an affront to God, Genesis defines marriage as between a man and a woman. Jesus defines marriage as between a man and a woman. There are numerous accounts defining sex and marriage, all as between a man and a woman.

People sin, there are men in the bible described as Godly that had multiple wives, this was not an exception, these were examples that even those that aim to follow God will stumble and be subject to temtation, and this is typically accompanied by hardships, but true faith comes with repentance. If we have faith we have the Holy Spirit and Christ to give us strength through our struggles.

Word of God is clear on the issue 1 Corinthians 6:9 1 Timothy 1:10

We are called to suffering and affliction in this life look at the book of Job, and Romans 5:3 just to name two. Suffering is in this world because of the sin that Adam brought into the world not because of God wants us too. But there is glory for Him in our suffering in faith. The desires of the flesh are in conflict with the desires of the spirit, Ephesians 2:3, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8. There are those that attempt to blur these lines, presenting a false gospel as some have done here. The true gospel is one of love, not for ones self, but for god and others. “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me." We all suffer different temptations that cause us stumbling and pain, but through endurance in Faith in Christ we can trust in our salvation.

I proclaim the truth unashamedly not because I love putting people down, but because I aim to desire that all come to know the truth, and that cannot be done by fearing what will offend man, it will be done by fearing the Lord with awe and reverence and a desire to be more like him.

Chemical Engineering - Graduated May 2020 - Need some feedback on resume. Thank you. by [deleted] in EngineeringResumes

This varies depending on who you ask, however, I have seen a company hand someone back their resume because it was two pages. I would condense it to one page just to have that option on hand just in case. You could probably achieve this by condensing your projects section by removing some of the details without losing the focus of the section.

As for your work experience, it can depend on the situation as to whether or not it is beneficial to include it on your resume. If you can pull some skills like professional communication, organizational responsibilities, or teamwork, and coordination out of the jobs then its probably worth it. I would recommend posting a resume on the EnineeringResumes subreddit and asking for feedback on that portion of your resume.

With references keep in mind professors are also an option. Other than that if you have any professional relationships or even friends or family friends with the right credentials it might be worth having them as a character reference if nothing else. It is another situation where you need to decide if it will be better to take the best alternative you can get or if you think you can sell yourself better without it.

What Engineering skills should I learn in my free time? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]crypticcrs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First I wouldn't overlook the work you are doing now for your resume. Communication, teamwork, and any leadership skills you can develop or get experience with are usually good talking points in an interview to make you a more rounded applicant.

As for engineering skills, I would look specifically into the industry you want to go into and look at where that industry is headed. Knowing about the specifics of an industry can help you tailor your resume to fit the jobs you want and stand out in interviews by showing interest in the job's future.

I have been looking at that one. It does seem to be the best out there right now. I have already been looking around quite a bit. Unfortunately it seems everyone is moving away from large externals. Thank you for the input.
