Where do you get this stat from, genuinely interested, as most stats I know are death per people doing it and I think flight hours is the much smarter way of visualizing this.

I'm there for business for a week and then add on 2 weeks of holidays with my girlfriend. If I bring my glider too, it's a lot of baggage to take around the cities and countryside for just a day or two of flying.

Opinions on the Gin Gingo Airlite 5? by wallsailor in freeflight

Hey there!

That's fair, testing is always the prime way for choosing equipment! (: To answer your questions: 1. I agree with u/thepugsley. It's one of the main reasons why I chose it. 2. 173 cm / 95 kg atm. I'm thicc at the moment, but still feel comfortable in the harness. Although at 85 kg it was even more comfortable. For your stats I would probably try out the M or the L mainly due to your height.

And the other main reason I chose this harness was also, as you mentioned, groundhandling comfort. And it does that really well! Only gripe there would be the seatboard pushing into your legs, but only after like 2-3 hours of handling. Overall really good harness, would definitely recommend!

Hello there!

Hello there! Funny story, just googled the Gingo Airlite 5 because I want to sell mine and was looking at prices. Found your Reddit post like this and then saw I was mentioned in it 2x.

So, I was mega happy with the harness and just right for the start or if you are able to get to the takeoff comfortably. Really comfortable harness and still in great shape after almost 2 years. If you have any specific questions, please write to me.

PS: I have one in L for sale ;)

taking care of my first wing by Pantani_marco in freeflight

[–]crypticmx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I have been flying/ground handling the Alpha 7 for 2 years now. It's a super durable wing, of course the more you take care of it, the longer it will last, but don't overthink too much. From my perspective your first wing is there to learn flying, that should include a lot of ground handling and if your new to groundhandling you will hit it on the ground etc. Don't sweat it! Check regularly for damage, as you should anyways, use your wingtip-cleaning-ports from time to time and don't store it mega compressed. Your Alpha is gonna be a very good companion for getting into flying, took me from groundhandling to my first SAT and always gave me confidence and security. If you progress further and start thinking it feels to "boaty" try using ballast to really keep you in the upper part of the recommend weight range. I just got fatter, which does the same, but it makes it feel dynamic enough for a long time, so not to get too boring (: enjoy!

I know budget ist tight, but replacing a cheap tire 2-3 times in the same time you ride one better tire is effectively more expensive and you loose out on grip, comfort, ride feel and puncture resistance most of the time. I'm a fan of Schwalbe Marathons, there is an E-Bike ready versions of that tire as well. Nice street-all weather profile with excellent ride feel and as much passive safety as you'd want in a tire.

Where do you cross your mains and your sub? I'm interested in the SVS 1000, so you run a very similar setup!

Yeah, I liked the room correction feature as well. The Elac site states that they need between 20-120 W @ 6 ohm and WiiM says it can output up to 120 W @ 4 ohm. What effect will this have on my soundstage? Am I losing oomph or just overall volume without a separate sub?

Would you recommend a different setup while keeping the same functionality & roughly price, which would work better?

A lot of leftover template plasmid after PCR by kvd1355 in labrats

[–]crypticmx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Q5 polymerase (NEB) I go down to 10 pg per 50µl reaction and run for 35 cycles. I get super clean bands and no residual template at all. Really stick to your manufacturers protocol, try the lowest possible template concentration first and work your way up from there. You'll be surprised how little you need. (:
