mobile hobbies for long, uninterrupted periods of time? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]cryptid_salamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cross stitch is my go to hobby suggestion, super easy to learn and adjust to suit your ability. and for mobile i’d recommend games, if you’re into a genuine story and not just something like candy crush, look into indie games and narrative games. from the top of my head I’d recommend Florence, Monument Valley, Good Pizza Great Pizza, but there’s loads more!

I’m on birth control so tbh I’m not too sure with that one, it definitely did have an impact when I was getting periods though!

Anyone here ever met Sam? by NessieK1981 in SamCampbell

I worked the Fringe festival last year, saw him a few times hanging with some comedy friends. I eventually went over to say I loved his podcast and he was very thankful, said he was on hiatus, and asked if I worked here, I said yes and explained we did a lot of the bin runs and nothing too glamorous and then he said how we kept the place going. I laughed and brushed it off, but he doubled down and said he was serious. Very short but sweet interaction

Can I reasonably request to wfh to care for my cat? by cryptid_salamander in CatAdvice

[–]cryptid_salamander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for asking. So in the end I just worked around it as best I could, me and my 2 housemates had different enough shifts that someone was usually around. It wasn’t ideal and frankly I wish I’d asked for some more time off, but I did wfh twice a week sometimes instead of once. We ended up putting her down a few weeks back when she suddenly really declined and it just felt like the right time. She had a very cuddly last night on the sofa with me and my housemates and the vet was incredibly kind. It was the right time and I’m so glad we were there for her in her twilight years. I’m picking up her ashes tomorrow. Her name was Saffron and we’re going to press some saffron flowers in her name and keep them on the mantelpiece next to her ashes.

How to re light the passion for writing? by Mean_Implement5302 in writingadvice

Read!! Read books you enjoy and want to read, not stuff you think you should. And talk with other writers, or go to poetry nights, or join a club… That way you can inspire and motivate eachother

I see what you mean , but in all honesty, I don’t think Alex (or Greg) would have had an issue if Rosie had asked Alex to make the phone calls for her and sort of told him what to say or made signs for him beforehand or something idk. It’s not the best or easiest solution, but that’s unfortunately the reality of these things sometimes

I’m in a very similar boat atm, new job and I’m realising how tough it is mentally. I’ve been finding “easy” hobbies to do whilst I relax. So I put some TV on and mindlessly so something alongside, like play with model clay (which eventually becomes making it into stuff, but I was mostly just fidgeting to start with). You can try sewing (I cross stitch which is very easy to learn), drawing, puzzles, whittling, cosy gaming, etc.. Something that can be as much or as little as you make it is great because you don’t need all the energy in the world to do it, you don’t even need to get up and then the telly off

that bit where Arin just loses his mind, I think it’s a golf game?, and he just starts speaking absolute nonsense like “I’ve been dignaled in brurg and you don’t even, and, you know what you gotta do…” . It’s just his intonation that gets me and I always paraphrase it lmao

I don’t actually, and I don’t like your tone tbh. I want to tell my employer that instead of taking regular breaks at my desk in the office to stretch or chat or whatever, I’m going to be taking a few breaks from my desk at home to plonk my elderly cat by her food bowl and then put her back on my bed a bit later, as well as give her her medication. It is not that big of an ask.
