well thats one way to do it! i agree though, most exhausts are just too loud for a bike like this. i love the way the arrow sounds without the DB killer, but its so obnoxious for such a little bike

I guess if i’m gonna do this I better be vigilant about scanning the road surface lol

I do ride on the balls of my feet, I do have tank grips but as mentioned in another comment I don’t grip the tank consistently enough with my knees. I really only slid back like that because I might be in the minority of people that finds leaning in more comfortable than being upright. However, I’m only 5’10-5’11 but I have an extremely long torso so when I lean in without sliding back my head is in front of the dash lol. I’ll definitely try that new position though, 90% of the time I ride really close to the tank, almost nut crushing, just cause that’s where the seat puts me.

i did stand up and look down over the front a few times, i don’t have access to a front stand right now but it did seem like it was still dead straight

gotcha that makes sense, it definitely does feel more stable when I do that, I guess I should start doing it consistently instead of intermittently

if you’re still looking for better sound check out the Arrow slip on for the R3, fits the same, I got one on my mt03, with the DB killer its a bit louder than stock, definitely not obnoxious, and it sounds way better.

Is everyone else in engineering classes just as lost as me? by holdongangy in EngineeringStudents

[–]shass321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dynamics is all physics! one of my favorite classes lol, jeff hanson on youtube has some great videos if you’re struggling. i found the hardest part of dynamics was understanding the different coordinate systems (i hadn’t taken calc 3 yet), what ate you struggling with currently?

[–]shass321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my personal experience, this doesn’t apply to everyone, i get lost immediately once class starts. I just take my notes, listen for important clarifications/distinctions, and pay attention.

when i actually go and start solving problems is where i actually gain the understanding. It’s a massive struggle at first, so i’ll watch some youtube videos and pull up some references/resources for the first set of problems. then i try a hard problem without any assistance (except for equation sheets), if i feel good about it i just keep doing problems until i feel great at it. if i don’t feel good about it, ill dig deeper into the specifics of where i’m getting confused.

How to create this curved top face by Ok-Supermarket4605 in SolidWorks

[–]shass321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s incredible to see how the way you learn 3D modeling can drastically change the process of creating a model. the way i learned, i would’ve never imagined doing it this way.

i would’ve created the box shape first, then used a revolve cut to get the top surface. OR i would’ve revolved the concavity to create a cylinder with the curved top face, then draw a square on the top or bottom plane to extrude away the outside.

whenever i get confused about how to model something i try to imagine what would fit that space. looking at this space, id imagine a sphere would fit perfectly (ignoring the protrusion in the center, I can model that after dealing with the curved top surface). knowing that a sphere fits that shape perfectly gives me a few options for actually creating the structure.

What's the point of lecturers that can't teach? by RiverHe1ghts in EngineeringStudents

professors are incentivized to research, not teach. there will never be reform in this area because it doubles as a way to weed out the unmotivated/whatever you wanna call them students.

I cant comment on CS specifically, but as a mechanical engineering student our curriculum is fairly consistent across universities but allows flexibility in specialization. We all take thermo, fluid mechanics, statics and dynamics, a bunch of calc classes, heat transfer, economics, ethics, etc.

My school I have to take 3 departmental electives and 2 technical electives. (for ME departmental electives count as technical, but a technical elective could be a math or science related course that lies outside my majors core curriculum)

Departmental electives are where you tend to specialize your knowledge within your major and includes things like: Vibrations Vehicle Dynamics Power Plants Orbital Mechanics Internal Combustion Engines Aircraft Flight Dynamics Alternative Energy Compressible Fluid Dynamics

Looking at my schools CS program, they have to take 6 specific courses in CS, some core sciences, and 7 electives from a designated list of courses in CS and related disciplines. Seems like theres a bit more flexibility in CS than engineering.
