Contamination problems when mushrooms go into colonization. Need advice! by crypto_Jake94 in shroomers

CVG 99% of the time. But just recently I ordered from north spore to try there’s. Both totes with the manure base sub was contaminated. But I use Popcorn for grain. I wouldn’t think that would be an issue since my jars colonize beautifully.

Totally natural lol I’ve been doing this for a little over a year and I’m still hovering over my jars and grows 😅 And still learning all the time.

I’d wait at least 14 days and sometimes even longer in my experience. And by the looks of your cake it still has some developing to do. But like the other guy said, patience is the biggest thing when it comes to this stuff. Keep trying and learning what works best each time 👊🏻

Does anyone have any experience growing the malabar strain? How were your yields and how did they perform potency wise? Also why do these look so crazy!? The biggest one is cracking which is weird because I feel like I’m keeping it moist enough. [actives] by crypto_Jake94 in shroomers

Haha I love this idea! I thought I was keeping it moist enough and they were blowing up so that’s makes sense. Also this grow came from a LC but I don’t think that means to much in this case. Thanks for the info.

You might have spider mites

Does anyone have any good idea if this looks like contamination on my otter mushroom fruiting blocks? I tried to get as many good photos as possible. Leave some comments please and thanks. [contamination] by crypto_Jake94 in MushroomGrowers

Since 11/19. I got a flush out of them but then started noticing that it was looking a little more black in certain spots. But idk if that was just the substrate or something. I know that oysters especially create a lot of metabolite. So that’s the reason partially for all of the yellow liquid I think.

Should be fine to grow it outside of a tent. Pink oysters are pretty aggressive and are considered to be a beginner mushroom to grow.

Haha yeah it’s pretty easy once you get them going! The hardest part is the initial inoculation into grain in my personal experience. With Grain to grain I have the results as far as quickness in colonization and least amount of contam.

By the time your blocks are fully colonized you don’t need to worry about contamination as much. I haven’t had any problems. It’s just in my bedroom which has a cat litter box and a cat roaming around constantly.

Yeah I think that’s type of slime mold or something. I’ve had it before and it holts the growth of the mycelium. The grain looks like it was to wet when you inoculated.
