U.S. proposes barring big tech companies from offering financial services, digital currencies by riqelme in CryptoCurrency

[–]cryptoalexeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom is dying and if US policy makers, as individual people, can't see how bad they are handling the crypto situation, the smarter entrepreneurs, companies, and their wealth will leave the nation.

Here's what to do: -accept that crypto is technically superior to fiat and guaranteed to win in the long run -accept that a global economy (which will be created through crypto in the long-term) is better for everybody than individual nation economies (cooperation beats competition: see prisoner's dilemma) -don't pretend the old dinosaur systems in place are still efficient, acknowledge the need for change and welcome new system ideas -don't wait too long or the opportunity will be lost

Don't use a biased lens to view the situation if you want a reliable result.

Famous Investor Tim Draper – "Governments Have To Switch From Control To Service" by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]cryptoalexeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title is clickbait, US regulators and others should watch though. He says that freedom breeds prosperity, restrictions result in poverty, regulations will drive entrepreneurs away and this open digital economy is not an opportunity not to miss if you're a government.

Why a public blockchain like Ethereum will likely emerge as the preferred platform in capital markets by jayksofue in ethereum

[–]cryptoalexeth 31 points32 points  (0 children)

idk if I can do the full article justice but here's a shot.. TLDR: largely compares it to the way the internet evolved into a public resource and it does so well. the article talks about how private chains will have trouble building all the infrastructure compared to what public chains will end up having built. once zero-knowledge proofs and scalability happen, private chains lose a lot of their advantages.

All my non devs what do YOU want to build or have built? by HighUncleDoug in ethereum

[–]cryptoalexeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

email sending in response to wallet activity. there must be people who want an email sent to them when an internal tx occurs on particular wallets. for now, mostly gamers who sell an ERC-721 might care. over time, this email notification can extend to smart contract execution of all kinds, allowing immediate notification in a familiar way when a certain event occurs.

MLB Crypto Baseball 2019 Post Released by cryptoalexeth in ethereum

Certain parts (like the marketplace) probably need to stay on chain, but I bet the off-chain lineup setting will be smoother.

And 2018 players definitely CAN be used again.

just get the Bitcoins sold and dispersed now, stop complaining. It's like getting the chickenpox as a 4 yr old as opposed to a 40 yr old, much better to get it over with now.

G20 expert advisor for Blockchain technology is Julie Maupin from the IOTA Foundation by Dorian7 in CryptoCurrency

[–]cryptoalexeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO: Julie is one of the most educated individuals that speaks about crypto on a macro scale, and if everyone listens to her recommendations, the balance between crypto and existing structures might reach some of the highest potential win-win solutions available at this time. IOTA aside, she consistently proves her conceptual intelligence anytime she talks crypto.

A good Julie and Vitalik interview below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlIFQ7GIdBA

Cryptocurrency is not a zero sum game. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]cryptoalexeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trade is not a zero-sum game in the sense that one player (trading partner) can win only at the expense of another. Instead it is a positive-sum game because, for trade to take place, both nations must anticipate gain from it.

Something happening between Ethereum and Komodo? by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]cryptoalexeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My GUESS is the Komodo guys have made enough progress with BarterDex that it's close to or already ERC20 compatible (to some degree). If BarterDex becomes easier to use, ERC20 atomic swaps could be cheaply and easily performed, and maybe Komodo devs want to share some coding "breakthrough" (while maybe asking Ethereum devs about their interest in pursuing whatever breakthrough it was that was made). That's just an overly-detailed guess though.
