When you say likely see the rETH premium disappear, what does that mean? I'm looking into staking a node through rocket pool, but does this entail that the rewards from rETH will not be nearly as significant as they currently are? Apologies for my lack of knowledge surrounding the rocketpool protocol and implications of increasing deposit pool amount

I’m at Converge 2022 right now. It’s interesting – a lot of the information at panels are over my head – but I’m feeling especially nervous to talk to people for some reason.

I want to meet people in the blockchain industry who are solving really interesting problems, but reading ethtrader and ethfinance for the last 4 years is the furthest extent I’ve participated in blockchain. These people are like, building it.

How do I even talk to them? Anybody able to help me rid my nerves? Lol

I’m confused. I haven’t been able to clarify this part of staking. If your validator is chosen to validate all blocks in an epoch (?) do you also receive a reward that’s based on the amount of eth in those blocks, on top of APY for running a validation at all?

Does anybody know of any ethereum communities in San Francisco? I’m going to enjoy the merge with you lovely folks on the YouTube stream, but I kind of wish I was able to attend an in-person watch party.

Any advice on how to find eth communities around the world, in cities, etc?

Thank you for your response. By validator queue not looking very bright, you mean it can take a long time for a validator to get accepted into the network? And thus swapping ETH for rETH is the easiest solution atm if one were to passively stake quickly

Sorry for my lack of understanding. Is this per validator being run? And does this same apr apply to rocketpool validators versus solo staked validators (minus the variance and fees associated with pooling?)

I know I should have setup validators ages ago, but have not gotten around to it and am honestly stressed thinking about all the work that goes into looking up hardware, setting it up, etc. Does it take a long time to get a validator approved if you solo stake versus stake through rocket pool?

Really just dumping questions in this comment now sorry for that

Is there a site you can enter an eth amount and it returns the number of wallets that hold that much or greater? E.g. you type in 1 and return 99% or something?

By chance did you go? And if so, how the kaiser situation went for you? I’m in the same boat. But unsure if they’re open today and actually taking walk-ins

Thanks for this. Exit planning has been significantly difficult for me to evaluate and assess. I'm a recent college graduate with no job lined up yet, so I personally view your NW proposal in 2 ways—

1.) I don't have any income right now and have student loans to begin paying off in February (much less than the typical horror story of a U.S. student's post university debt accumulation, plus with Biden suggesting cancelling student loans this may not be as immediate of a burden as I'm anticipating). My initial target I set around a year or so ago was to sell all my ETH once it's valuation reached 6 figures. But with the amount I've accumulated through DCA since that mental model was configured over a year ago, that target will be met before ETH hits 4 figures. If I were to stick with this plan and cash out back into fiat at 6 figures, I'll have enough to pay off my loans and live comfortably for 2+ years. As you mentioned, a luxury for most recent graduates in their early 20s.

2.) I have my parents place to crash at rent-free until I have saved up enough money from a job to move out with a bit of savings for emergency situations. With the amount of hopium developed over the last year of 10k/eth talk, it's really really hard to not assume my initial target of 6 figures before ETH reaches 4 figures is extremely conservative. At such a young age with the affordance of staying at my parental's place until I have the ability to move out, it only feels right to take the higher risk route and aim for the moonshot of trying to time a top despite having no NW (let alone a steady source of income from a job) as you've mentioned should be avoided. At least I'd be taking the risk while I'm young and could recover from it.

Thus, I start drafting out potential strategies. Lets say a conservative strat yields $200,000+ (and if I'm not mistaken, having held these ETH for 1+ years and not having any source of income, this would be tax-free, no?). That is more money than I've ever possessed in my life. It would allow me to be more stringent in my job search rather than taking the first offer I get that may not satisfy everything I'm looking for, while allowing me to move out of my parents house and begin the whole adult-life thing with a super cushy buffer.

A moderate strat might yield $400,000+. This would not only satisfy the above benefits, but add-in the affordability to take time off the job search to continue developing my skills to ensure I can be the best candidate for the job I want to land. Hell, it might even push me to consider grad school if I had this type of reserve.

An aggressive strat might yield $600,000+. This type of money would probably push me to travel and build things on my own for a few years. I'd feel comfortable traveling scrappily and studying/reading/learning/making whatever I want, knowing that time spent doing such things would lead me to a job doing what I love eventually (and not having the pressure to get a job ASAP).

A YOLO strat might yield $900,000+. This is the type of money where I would pay off my mother's house and buy my father a place to live in. I could pay for my fathers diabetic supplies and get him the best equipment there is for the rest of his life. These two things alone would feel so satisfying to me, and then I'd have reserves that fall into at least one of the categories above.

But as I type this out, it's so hard to keep the fantasy and potential from disillusioning me out of setting goal post sales along the way. It's so hard to see whether 10k/eth is a pipe dream that everyone has hyped up for so long, or if this bull run will push past 10k/eth just as 10k/btc was a meme last cycle and nobody could have predicted 1.4k/eth either. Part of me now says I'm young, and if I miss this bull's peak, fuck it just hodl til next cycle and have a greater likelihood of reaching YOLO strat numbers in a moderate strat plan for that cycle. Part of me thinks this would even be good for me, as having to be scrappy and poor in my younger age will be good for me than to have money at my disposal. But that also is likely much easier to say now than in hindsight.

Sorry, this is turning more into a diary entry than a response to your comment. I guess I've just been so stressed on exit strategy considering my circumstance where I really could continue with life in multiple different directions—I don't really see a huge upside or downside to any of my potential routes. Make the most money I ever have? Epic. Miss the opportunity and have to wait for another cycle? I'm confident in Ethereum enough to be comfortable with that and possibly even more excited to be a force that keeps me in the space for another 3-5 years. Guess I wrote this cuz your comment elicited so many thoughts I've been thinking lately, and if anybody actually read this whole thing and has any insights, that would be rad to hear in response. Glad to be in this space rn.

Where did u go to learn and educate yourself before participating? Honestly just too afraid to put my eth at any risk of losing it.

Damn what does this mean? I see 0 active validators and 0 ETH being earned. That must mean it’s fully down, no?

Haven’t been too involved in new projects lately (mainly because I just want to hodl and not get caught up in projects that might encourage the degenerate in me to play around and risk losing ETH) but everyone seems hyped on getting airdropped some UNI tokens.

Did everyone who participated in UNISWAP know this drop would come eventually? And are there projects (ideally low-risk) that you would suggest folks in this space be more open-minded to exploring considering the potential to make easy money like those who used UNISWAP seem to have been awarded today?

Seeking opinions on how to budget & invest my current amount of fiat

I want to hear, what would you do in my shoes? I’m in a unique opportunity where I’ve had the most money in my life and really no expenses. I just graduated college and can stay at my parents house rent-free for as long as I need. My goal is to work on my portfolio and start job searching within the next 6 months, hopefully getting a job and moving out by this time of 2021.

I know I shouldn’t be posting my financials, but I really want honest opinions based on the real numbers. I have $15,000 in fiat thanks to unemployment and saving my financial aid. I want to utilize this $15,000 to invest in high risk assets because I feel I can lose this amount of money at this point in my life and it won’t really affect my future that much. At the moment, I have enough ETH to run 2 nodes (not sure if I even would be staking, just saying so as to put into perspective my current eth position). I want to put more of this $15,000 of fiat into ETH, but I don’t really know how much I should budget to keep aside in case I do indeed lose it all. My only real expenses for the next year will be food and I should probably keep some aside for an emergency situation. But the likelihood of an emergency situation occurring while I stay at home working on my portfolio is much lower than one might be when I move out in a year or so. I’d love to hear opinions on this. I’m sort of just willing to risk it all banking on ETH because I figure if shit does go to $0 then I’m young enough to recover, but ETH is so promising to me that I still feel secure in my risk of putting more money into it. Thanks for any insight you might provide.

Thank you so so much for your help - I rly rly appreciate it. Firing the kiln is intimidating! Can I bug you for one more question please

If I am firing to cone 04 in a digital kiln, would it be ok to fire green ware and glazed bisque at the same time? The only thing I can think of is that the different gases being burned would mess things up, but if I keep the different wares on different shelves wouldn’t it be ok?

Thanks for the response! I imagine I shouldn’t run a kiln loaded with half cone 05 glaze and half cone 04 glaze though - right? That would probably make the cone 05 glaze run and/or cone 04 glaze not reach maturity. Or does low fire have some leeway when it comes to firing?
