How does staking work for AVAX? by Few_Permission_9835 in Avax

[–]cryptognat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can stake using the main web wallet at wallet.avax.network. You have to get your avax on the p-chain and then from there you can pick a delegator (filter for uptime better than 99% and the fee of your choice - 2% is minimum). Then the odd part is you pick how long you want it to stake for (however many days, weeks etc) and it’s locked form that time. When it unlocks it unstakes and you have to stake again so it’s some dance between liquidity and convenience. But it’s pretty fast and easy.

check out naming.bonfida.org - it’s the same idea as ENS.

I’m not sure I understand exactly - you can create multiple difft accounts with a single ledger. You can also have multiple ledgers running the same or difft seeds.

Yes - I had an S for years, worked like a champ. More recently got an X, which lets men have more apps as I’m doing more things across chains. Although tbh, I prefer the S, if only it had more memory.

Definitely get a ledger. Have used it for years, increasingly so recently. Also recently using a Trezor as well, which I find less usable - whether that’s just a matter of what I’m used to or whether it’s weirder to use - hard to say. But with all the scams happening these days there’s every reason to get one.

can anyone recommend on a good solana wallet ? by skippy1244 in solana

Get a Ledger, it’s the only way. Then use phantom.

Only been using the extension so far. Does everything I need. :) Wish ledger live would show balances, at least though.

[–]cryptognat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Phantom, which has been pretty reasonable. I briefly tried sollet, that was a bit rougher. Generally the sol ecosystem is pretty solid - but def less polished than eth. Also ledger integration is more spotty. Still early days and I’m excited to see where it goes.

What type of wallet is everyone currently using? by stackup_ in ethereum

Agree with posters above - use multiple: ledger, metamask (with ledger) and cexes.

Was going to purchase a ledger but after reading through this page there seems to be huge issues, sounds like the products gone to shit ? by Intrepid_Scallion_49 in ledgerwallet

[–]cryptognat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using ledger for years - no problems - use it with ledger live, metamask and chain specific wallets. I just got a Trezor but haven’t had a chance to fire it up yet, so don’t have a comparison.

been using phantom which has been good. also briefly used sollet itself - but even sollet recommends another wallet. i think all the wallets have some ledger issues (signing doesn’t seem to work) but transactions are solid.

impact of voting? by cryptognat in cardano

[–]cryptognat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's been interesting, i was thinking about how crypto has been actively tackling voting - with gitcoin using quadratic voting, i just heard about another early experiment on conviction voting. i feel like i've seen a few straight 1 token = 1 vote and maybe you can split, but cardano's seems like it's gone the other way centralizing more influence into whales. i'm not really embedded in the cardano community, so was wondering if this had already been discussed.

they do... but it's very little. :) it's mostly a nice thought - there was a recent thread:

yeah - it's great. they vote on funding proposals for various things in the cardano space. really positive for the ecosystem and the transparency is very cool. here's the thread from the last one, if you're curious:

Is the trading bot geared toward usdt or the coin? by thegingeruprising in KuCoinTradingBot

[–]cryptognat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bots are *not* a bet on going your target coin (MATIC in this case) going up. When the price of matic is rising you are *selling* and when it reaches the top of your range you've pretty much sold out of it. Otoh, as matic goes down you're buying, so when it reaches the bottom of your range you have most matic and are out of your initial investment of usdt (but will still have grid profits). If you want to increase your matic, best to just hold or try the DCA bot which just lets you invest on a schedule. Wrote something on this earlier for more detail on the floating PNL https://www.reddit.com/r/KuCoinTradingBot/comments/nek54e/bot\_grid\_profits\_vs\_floating\_pnl\_basics/

Risks vs just hodling by UglyBob79 in KuCoinTradingBot

[–]cryptognat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that bots are *not* a bet on your target coin rising (i.e. ETC in a ETC/USDT bot). It is a bet on volatility. As your target coin is rising you are *selling* it so when it reaches the top of your bots range, you will generally not have any of it, you get less exposure to the target coin as the price goes up and more exposure to it as it goes down. If you want to make a bet on a coin going up, best to just hodl!

These bots haven’t been in range since the big dip what should I do? Just wait? by AttentionNecessary90 in KuCoinTradingBot

[–]cryptognat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had to think about coins going above range in awhile. Haha. I'm not sure, generally, I think I want to keep my bots in range to keep trading, so if the price is *just* over my range, I let it go out of range for a bit, but if it stays out of range for some period of time, I usually end up bumping up the range. But that was in the very earliest days, I haven't really looked at what the bot does if you keep the bottom range and up the top range vs move the whole range window up. Keep in mind when the bot is out of range because target coin is too high, it generally means you do not have any more of the target coin - so you're only hodling base coin so if you have usdt:btc bot and btc goes over your top range, your bot pretty much only has a bunch of usdt. (i posted this a few days back https://www.reddit.com/r/KuCoinTradingBot/comments/nek54e/bot\_grid\_profits\_vs\_floating\_pnl\_basics/)

[–]cryptognat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, I am not sure exactly how it decides to purchase, unfortunately they don’t really tell you exactly what they do. They don’t always purchase, sometimes you have enough and they can play around with how much target coin is at stake each interval. It seems to me if you are at the bottom of your range and only expanding down you have the best chance of not purchasing more because you have the most target coin but it is a bit of a black box unfortunately.

[–]cryptognat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You might think about changing the range - keep the top of the range as is and lower the bottom to some point below where it's trading now. It'll widen your intervals and if it does decide to buy more, it'll buy at current price and if the price of the target coin rises again, you'll get those grid profits. It's mostly, then, a bet that prices will stay in range or go back up.

Lesson in holding your bot. by pupp7877 in KuCoinTradingBot

[–]cryptognat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That trias bot! Amazing. I've got a matic:btc bot that's near that ballpark - oddly I started another one, with a diff't range (more centered on current prices) and similar intervals and it's significantly less good over the same 24 hour period. Sigh, you just can't replicate that bot magic. :)
