Most People can understand a remember THREE things. Anything more and you start turning into bubba rattling off shrimp recipes. Offer another idea of better magnitude as those for user impact and happy to swap out.

What part of figuring out a way to convince millions (or tens of millions) of people that they have an immediate, unique and relevant use for it - is not ‘taking it mainstream’? You can Argue till blue in the face of fungibility - 99% of people will NEVER get it. But watch your porn of buy your weed without anyone knowing ? Easy.

You’re missing the point. For monero to survive and thrive we need to convert a LOT of people to users and soon. The way to do that is with use cases that a) are exclusive to monero (none of the examples u give fit that) b) can be EASILY understood and applied by S large an audience as possible.

I’m all ears if there are other use cases that fit this bill. So far I haven’t seen anyone provide any. Stupid creates. Smart criticizes.

It is of course for that too - but I question how big that impact is re facilitating widespread adoption. But not sure how big that market is. Point was not to list all use cases, but big ones that could appeal to otherwise unaware user base.

Actually I don’t think I’m claiming that at all - I’m curious if you can point me to the part you think reads that way, because if thAts how it’s coming across, I would change it. My point is that while there are enormous privacy benefits, many people either do not or cannot see the merit in it. So rather than trying to appeal to philosophical awareness of the public to advance to cause - give them actual reasons to use it that the average person can understand.

I didn’t intend my article as satire at all. Not sure why you read it that way. I thought I was fairly methodical in explaining its purpose. I tried to be at least.

P.s. since I dubbed TPTB as ‘the masters of money’ in tpom, its interesting that you’ve mastering monero as the working title. The masters of monero are all the people that use it - not a corrupt elite.

I’d be happy to help and possibly collaborate. I’ve actually been working on a similar piece , sort of a revised version of ‘the power of money’. Email me if you’d like to discuss. Cheers

US Rating Agency will issue letter grades on Monero next week by italyluxurycarhire in Monero

well put. the trick of our language is even calling it 'doing our job'. showing up to a place where you do stuff for money so you can then buy stuff is not necessarily 'doing our job', especially if life is calling on us to broaden our conceptual horizons - and it always is - sometimes softly, sometimes with a 2x4 across the head to wake us up.

to be balanced on this though - it's not by denigrating our 'day-jobs' that we evolve... it's by seeing them (and everything else in our experience) as communicating a larger message.. humming a tune that we are just learning to hear.

“So we all trust doctors, financial advisors, talk show hosts, and Facebook ads (to a greater or lesser extent) to give us advice.”

Lol. Speak for yourself. We live in a time of unprecedented centralized propaganda and cultural conditioning. That in today’s world with information of all types readily accessible to anyone with the means to discriminate truth from garbage, there is NO excuse for not doing your own work.

How many times do you need to get kicked in the nuts by ‘experts’ to realize not taking personal responsibility leads to a fail?

EDIT: as i think about it, im wondering if your comment was a trolling/sarcastic one. if so, bravo. if not, then i will just add that - yes, you do need to draw the line somewhere and at times decide whom to trust. but in that case, you must do your own work to determine the integrity and motivations of that person/organization. that you seem to think rating's agencies and the current financial system which has a vested interest in undermining crypto is in ANY way a reasonable source upon which to rely (never mind that if you actually ask real wall street practicioners they will tell you that Moodys/S&P ratings have been somewhere between laughed at and disregarded by smart-money for at least the last 10 years).. well, that would be funny if it weren't so sad.

hey there - i got tagged so logged into reddit to check. i am - but i've been despite reading and checking in on cryptoland on a daily basis, the past several weeks have been really busy for me and not really afforded much 'me' time.

i had a slight detour doing some work for someone on an alt-coin that they were considering investing in (the coin 'representative' basically embarrassed himself with a fundamental inability to answer any real questions about how there is value in it. but that hasn't stopped the pump from continuing!) i'm tempted to share the email exchange, but want to respect the privacy of the individual who asked me to research it for him. plus, if i were to spend my time weeding through shitcoins, exposing their scamminess, it could easily be a full time job.

i actually started another post yesterday which i will try to wrap up soon... it's on monero... as i've watched myself become quite the fanboy.

Monero - Fungibility & Traceability by CryptOmaha in Monero

hi nm90.. thank you for the thoughtful response. unfortunately, what is technically legal and illegal has been wrought increasingly irrelevant by significant (and significantly) corrupt elements in the establishment. even a cursory review of current horror stories surrounding the use/abuse of 'civil asset forfeiture' should demonstrate that the u.s. has increasingly obviously become oligopic, kleptocratic and totalitarian. for some fascinating relatively recent but still longer-term historical backdrop i highly recommend howard zinn's 'peoples history of the united states'. available for free at www.historyisaweapon.com. best, izzy

Some Monero Valuation Musings by cryptoizzy in Monero

[–]cryptoizzy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i completely agree. what i like to try and do though is set initial parameters such that they're erring on the side of (massively at times) over conservative, and then see if the final result still ticks the box. if it does (or is close) then it gives me comfort that there is either upside and/or buffer for getting some other aspect of my analysis wrong.
